The Middle Pillar

When performing the Middle Pillar, does the color of the orbs matter? Or does it just need to be colors that are succeedent in shade from Malkuth to Kether? (That is, Black, Purple, Blue, Light Blue, & White; respectively.*)
The reason I ask is that the colors I have are only 4 (Missing one for Tiphereth, or it was never conceived) and awkward when conjured.
Also, what experiences have others had from the Middle Pillar? (Besides, or including, the infamous static-electrical build-up mentioned elsewhere.)

It matters... but different color schemes represent different sets of energies and have, therefore, "mean" different things.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Are you saying you only have colors from a particular source, and that source is one short? Have you actually read the books in which this technique is published? (Or am I misunderstanding you.)
The most commonly taught colors are the Queen Scale colors of the Sephiroth: White, silver-grey, yellow, violet, and one or four of the Malkuth colors.

Loonngggg story - too long for here, because it's one of the most fundamental techniques and I've practiced it for 30 years or so (in variuos incarnations, with varied patterns depending on the exact nature of the work).

Are the Golden Dawn's rituals still being published? If so, what is the book called? Will it vex me by being called something obvious like "Golden Dawn Rituals" in the New Age --talk about vexation...-- section of Barnes & Nobels?

Try "The Middle Pillar" by Israel Regardie. There's also his "Complete Golden Dawn" which is a must have in anyone's collection. Actually, I can't remember if he threw it in there or not since it's not one of the original GD rituals... but it's still a good book to have. Also, there's a handful of GD books that have been published by the Ciceros.

SM but not much difference (and, personally, I find the SM rituals rely on more vibrant language and imagery).
Original GD rituals were published in the Falcon Press edition (popularly called the Doorstop Edition) - Mostly I don't like that book nearly as much as the original.
I have a full set of the original GD rituals in my files, and the differences are few. Mostly only a scholar would care much, and then probably only for academic reasons.

I don't know if this topic is the right place but what is the difference between The Golden Dawn & The Complete Golden Dawn System of Magic? What are the "extras" of the later?

Actually that is what Regardie claimed ( that Falcon Press were orignal G.D. ) but you can tell most of them are S.M. that have been altered to look like they were original ( for example, in the 0=0 he parses the Officer speeches like they did in the original G.D. and continued in the A.O. ). I believe he did this to get around the Llewellyn copyrights. I also like his original presentation much better than the Falcon Press edition but there are a number of diagrams missing from both...
You can verify that the Falcon Press Rituals are not the original by a careful comparison to the orignal G.D. Rituals and by the overtly Christian overtones that the S.M. brought into the First Order that was not present in the orignal G.D.
