    57. Thou criest like a white cat upon the roof of the Universe; there is none to answer Thee.
    58. Thou art like a lonely pillar in the midst of the sea; there is none to behold Thee, O Thou who beholdest all!

"57. Thou criest like a white cat upon the roof of the Universe; there is none to answer Thee.

      1. Thou art like a lonely pillar in the midst of the sea; there is none to behold Thee, O Thou who beholdest all"

      How lonely must Thou be.

I feel overwhelmingly sympathetic towards Thou.

These images are quite extraordinary. Grouping them with yesterday's images one realizes that we are in a series of thoughts that seem intended to produce or relate a rarefied tension, extreme, remote, and alien. For me, it is the sense of not being able to relate to the life experience of someone from another planet. I feel am being asked to understand and accept this fact and stop attempting to talk about it as if it is something I really understand, when fact is, I don't.

I try to sleep in my bed, in my house, and that damn cat is on the roof yowling! I have not made the effort to travel to the lonely pillar, what is it to me?

It's a funny association, but I am reminded of the Bob Seger song:* Shame on the Moon*.

        "
Until you've been beside an man
You don't know what he wants
You don't know if he cries at night
You don't know if he don't
        "

There are any number of moments in this text when I felt the appropriate response was simply to allow the words to void ones imagination, and to disabuse ones mind of thinking 'informed, scholarly thoughts.' But maybe it's just me; I tend to think thoughts like this one—if one really respects the other as such, one cannot assume to know, a priori as it were, anything of what it must be like to be that other. It's a humbling thought.

        Love and Will

I can wholeheartedly relate to this.

The majority of the verses in the chapter escape my ability to comprehend what is happening.

But I feel something I haven't felt before after reading:

"58. Thou art like a lonely pillar in the midst of the sea; there is none to behold Thee, O Thou who beholdest all!"

The best way to describe is: "If this is the case, I understand why you would break yourself up into countless pieces for ever and ever. You need someone/something to play with."

Perhaps I'm way off the mark. Perhaps those are just shallow feelings that compensate my lack of understand what is being said. I just know that I feel really bad for some reason.

I just had to look up "white cat" and found this:
White cat breeds have blue eyes or odd colored eyes. Your white breed cat may have one blue eye and one green or yellow eye. It is seen that the cat with one blue eye may be deaf in the ear on the same side as the blue eye. Therefore, keep your white cat indoors most of the time as their deafness may lead to an injury or accident.

            I love odd eyes!

              93,

Cats howl when they're looking for love.

              93 93/93,
              Edward
