93 Everbody!
My name is Anael Lucis and I came to the US from Belgrade, Serbia about 6.5 years ago.
I've been interested in Magick for as long as I've known myself - although my understanding of magick back then was far different than it is today.
I'm one of those people that started w/ Wicca (guess what's the first link you run into when you type in the word "magick" in the search engine), then moved to ecclectic Paganism... I always wanted to be a part of a group or school that would give me some direction in magick. So I enrolled in an online school called Grey School of Wizardry (sounds like Harry Potter doesn't it - well yeah it was kinda like that)Although soon I realized that what I was getting from the Pagan resources seemed just way too simple and easy...and perhaps not serious enough for me... So I felt a need to dig deeper - which eventually led me to ceremonial magick and the O.T.O. I've heared of Crowley in the past but never knew quite enough about his background and his work.
During my first EGC mass I had such a strong, spiritual experience that I knew I'm on to something very special. Soon after that I "somehow" ran into the Aiwass study group which was organized and led by Sesheta and Metzareph - and I've been attending the classes since then - which was in March or April if I'm not mistaken... So this is pretty much how I ended up on the path of Thelema - which I recognized as my own, destined path from the very moment I learned about it!
After that I took my O.T.O. Minerval in August, and now I'm getting ready to take my 1st, too.I've learned about the T.O.T. through the Aiwass study group and expressed interest in that as well... so here I am!
Also, I have just returned from a wonderful vacation in Oakland, California where I met some most amazing Thelemites (most of which are members of this Forum) which just makes me want to leave the cloudy NYC (cloudy doesn't refer only to the weather here) and join the Thelemic community in the West.... counting days untill that happens...

"I gave up the rosicrucian system in favor of the ogdoadic, about a year ago. As of late, I've given up all magick in a sort of yoga retirement, with the aim of practicing this tradition until I get a sign to resume my magical works."
The only ogdoadic material I'm familiar with is Dennings & Phillips' Aurum Solis. Is it really so different? I bought Foundations of High Magic because it was super-cheaply discounted, but I never looked at Mysteria Magica, which is I guess is the best work. Anyway, aside from being Greek-oriented it didn't seem very different.
I just began reading The Greek Qabalah by Kieren Barry, btw. Very interesting! In the intro, the author explains immediately that the title "Greek Qabalah" is anachronistic, but the Greek number-letter system that came to be used in Jewish Qabalah dates back to Greek culture 3rd century C.E. or earlier, which is coicidentally when the Old Testament is approximated to begin being written between 300 - 600 C.E. Of course, it doesn't make much difference to me either way because I've been working under the premise that it all comes from the Egyptian Ha-Qabal, anyway.
I'd be interested to know more about the differences of the two systems from your personal experience in a PM or something, if you care to bother.
