Vampirism & Thelema

"For I am a mighty vampire, and my children shall suck up the wine of the earth which is blood." - Liber Stellae Rubeae
616
-
And how do you understand that phrase "I am a mighty vampire"?
-
The verse following clarifies it for us:
"Thou shalt replenish thy veins from the chalice of heaven." - Liber Stellae Rubeae v.50
I do not think it coincidence that the number of this verse is 50 - for 50 is Nun, & the Eagle.
In his comment to verse 50 he simply says "Drinking Catamenia?"

93 FallenAngel,
"Fallenangle:
I'm a Psychic Vampire. There are a lot of different definitions that go around for the term, but I describe it as having to regularly and actively take human vital energy to maintain my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. I'm not sure yet on how this effects me overall on my path as a thelemite. Does anyone know how this will effect me in the long run as I practice thelemic rituals and strive for the KC of HGA? "Why not feed from the Tree of Life instead The Tree of life gives you access to a much higher level of psychic energy than your average John or Jane Doe would have. I use the middle pillar ritual to invigorate my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual body.
"FallAngel: Does anyone know how this will effect me in the long run as I practice thelemic rituals and strive for the KC of HGA? "
I donβt know how it may affect you FallenAngel but, I would hate to be dependent on other people for my vitality.

Thanks for clarification. Now let's take a poll:
-
Do you think AC considered himself to be a mighty vampire or was speaking metaphorically?
-
How many Thelemites on this forum drink menstrual blood and consider it to be the "wine of the earth"?
-
Would the energy derived from this practise be greater or less than the energy derived from eating a spinach salad or bowl of blueberries?
I've heard a lot of talk about sperm and blood having special "magickal" properties and the benefits of consuming them. Now I want to see the hard data on these assertions.

IMO, both. In chapter 62, his commentary chapter to 44 in Liber CCC, he states:
"The first cake, burnt, illustrates the profit drawn from the scheme of incarnation. The second, mixt with his life's blood and eaten, illustrates the use of the lower life to feed the higher life."
...again, in chapter XII of MTP he comments:
"It is the sacrifice of oneself spiritually. And the intelligence and innocence of that male child are the perfect understanding of the Magician, his one aim, without lust of result. And male he must be, because what he sacrifices is not the material blood, but his creative power."
This, of coarse, is in reference to DM of the male - but compare to the 14th secret instruction of The Master Therion as mentioned in The Heart of the Master:
"Pour thine all freely from the Vase in thy right hand, and lose no drop! Hath not thy left hand a vase?
Transmute all wholly into the Image of thy Will, bringing each to its true token of Perfection!
Dissolve the Pearl in the Wine-cup: drink, and make manifest the Virtue of that Pearl!""2. How many Thelemites on this forum drink menstrual blood and consider it to be the "wine of the earth"?"
I do.
"2. Would the energy derived from this practise be greater or less than the energy derived from eating a spinach salad or bowl of blueberries?"
It is not a physical nutrient - it is nourishment to the Spiritual Self & the sacrament of Horus...see verses 23-25 of Liber CCXX.

I know the instructions and rituals that AC laid out. What I would like to understand is the science behind these practises.
I can state for a fact that I have felt a "charge" after eating a cake of light during a Gnostic Mass. I have also felt immensely energized after invokings. One practise requires blood, another doesn't.
So what is the benefit you feel you have gained by regular drinking of catamenia?

As it is not a science, but an Art, it would be impossible to do more that suggest a theory - here is one from 666 Himself:
@666 said
""The theory of this Art appears to Us to involve certain cosmic hypoth-eses to which it is perhaps not impossible to assent at least tentatively, but which are certainly unproven.
The idea of Prana in some form more mystical than that which identifieth it with the Motion of the physicist is perhaps inherent.
In the mere consumation of the Sacrament for health and vitality is no violation of reason, but at most an exaggeration of anticipation; for the Matter of the Sacrament is indubitably a Microcosm; but in the extension of this Sacrament to validity in Magick is an hiatus comparable to that which exists in the theory of Astrology. Even granting that an angle of 120 degrees subtended at the eye of the observer on Earth between Sol and Saturn (exempli gratia) is accompanied by certain fortunes, this may be casual and not causal.
However, in this matter We have no doubt of the efficacy of the process, and are therefore fain to toy with any hypothesis, investigating as prob-ablity may determine us to do.
Thus we may assume an Ether or Akasa, inflamed or stressed by a partic-ular Prana. And all stresses in this Akasa being of one kind ultimately, though mediately diverse, it may be as easy to arrest the course of the Earth as to destroy a worm. For the Work is taking place in a World of Causes fluid and not soild, in Yetzirah (or even Briah) rather than in Assiah.
It will be impossible or very difficult to move infantry from one wing of the engaged line to the other, but in the Quarters of the Staff it is indifferent whether that body, being at the base, is pushed forward to either. One cannot easily oxidize gold precipated from the chloride, but having the chloride, it is easy to prepare the oxide rather than the metal.
And in all these matters reason must be the guide, and experience the teacher, so that the adept seek not to perform things impossible in Nature, and so blaspheme the Sacrament and bring it to comtempt.
Yet let this be said, that to the consumate and sublime Initiate it may seem that of Himself was it written: "With God all things are possible." However, God Himself is not found to interfere arbitrarily with the course of Nature, but to work within His laws.
Let the Adept act not otherwise." - De Arte Magica, Cap. VIII, 'Of a Theory of this Art Magical'"@h2h said

The experience I get from the ritualistic consumption of the mingled fluids is that of force & vigor...but the effect should reflect the cause - which is the Magickal charge placed on the Stone before & during the operation. Force & vigor is the sigil I generally carve on my breast prior to, during & after the Bleeding.

Concerning the feeding aspect of vampirism.
I have been taught that vampires cannot process the Sun's energy, yet the Sun usually cannot hurt them anymore than the rest of us (e.g. sunburn, skin Cancer). Vampiric souls are no longer connected to the Universal Energy Source / Divine as ours are and in order for them to maintain their incarnated physical body they need to tap into this Source by taking this prana from those who are connected. The reason blood is a main factor to feeding is the blood vessels proximity with the Meridians / Shen centers, they run parallel with one another and infuse the blood with fresh vital energy. There are techniques of Deep Feeding that tap directly into the Shen centers.
I would be interested to hear how the vampire would feed from the Tree of Life? -

Nay, anything that exist is interconnected. Vampires included. Leeching of other peoples energy is really the long route to the source which i like to call it. It is quite normal to exchange energies with other people, constantly draining others while not giving anything back is a weakness, a characterflaw, often seen in drug addicts, christian clergymen, and clinical psychopats, for instance.
Beeing consciouss of your own vampiric activities is actually a step forward, since you are then able to take measures against it. I do heartily agree with the suggested practices of liber O, as well as The ritual of the Middle pillar.
Picking up a copy of Modern Magick by Donald Michael Kraig and following his course, is perhaps the quickest way of launching yourself into these practicies in a constructive, clear and orderly manner.
Israel Regardie has written a nice little piece called The ritual of the middlepillar, might want to dig into that one as well.
If anyone wonders what A.C.s views on vampirism were, I suggest you look it up in Book 4, Part III, chapter XXI, if i remember correctly.
We all have our little quirks and faults that has to be resolved in order to fulfill the great work, perhaps vampirism is one of yours.
Good luck anyhow, little vampire, and a speedy recovery to you.

Not sure who you are referring to as 'little vampire' but I have been taught that vampires do not leech off others in that respect. It is more of a Spiritual Predator, the vampire no longer has a human soul and in order for it to incarnate into a physical body it spends prana very quickly and needs to replenish it in order to survive.
I have Regardie's 'Middle Pillar' and other books of his, though I truly find him to be quite accurate with most everything and I certainly agree with him on many theories, I think his stance on vampirism is quite antiquated as is Crowley's. -

Fallen Angel would be the vampire in this case. If you are right Cliff, there would still be no harm in trying, would there?

I guess it's running off of Duracell?
It is true that a being may not have identified their True Will, which might leave them out of touch with their 'soul', but "every man & every woman is a star". Fohat is omnipresent...if a creature is animate, then it, by definition, has a soul.616

"I think the distinction here that needs to be made is that "vampiric souls" perceive that they are disconnected from the "Universal Energy." There is no 'actual' break. However, their belief (or delusion as some might perceive it) becomes so strong that they require 'feeding.'
