preparation of magickal space. Help emediatelly needed
-
I did my first banishing ritual yesterday and i didnt feel any difference from my beginning to the end and i started thinking that maybe i did something wrong during the preparation of the temple.
First, i drew the circle and got somebody to confirm so i think it is not the problem. If there any chant or something that should be done during the drawing of the circle please tell me. I then went ahead and consecrated the weapons using abramelins oil (pentacle, wand, dagger and cup) by just applying the oil anyhowly. Is there a procedure to be followed in doing this. I have a mentor but hes not helping at all.
Please if you can give me procedure (detailled) from circle upto the consecration it would do me alot of help. Please Help.
Love is the law, love under will.

I don't know as much about performing lbrp as some other people on this board, but I do know from personal experience that it can sometimes take quite a while of regular practice and sensitivity training (yoga) before the real effects of certain rituals can be "felt". The first time I performed a magick ritual, I felt nothing but nervous and silly. Just keep practicing, very regularly, recording carefully, and you'll start noticing things before long, I suspect.

If you haven't already i suggest that you buy and read "Magick, Liber ABA, Book 4 " in order to understand how to consecrate the elemental weapons etc.
A good instruction on the LBRP can be found in Lon Milo DuQuette's book "The Magick of Aleister Crowley: A Handbook of the Rituals of Thelema" and reading the footnotes and mentioned books expands on his guidelines.
I suggest that you try and read as must as possible about the ritual and all its relative factors. Then put these visualizations and actions into the workings of the LBRP.
I am sure most people on here have slightly different variants of the ritual that have evolved over time, i know i have.Like bryan has said the LBRP does develop over time as you become more familiar its structure, words and visualizations. As the old phrase says... "practice makes perfect".
Persist with it daily at least twice a day, following a few weeks of this you will begin to feel changes in you related to the practice.
For myself, after 2 or more years of doing this 2-3 times a day, still feel different sensations or new insights almost weekly.
The value of LBRP cannot be underestimated in my opinion.PS your not doing anything wrong at all... Bryan hit the nail on the head.. the first time i did it also i felt stupid... i was half pissed at the time...
But the early days of learning the ritual and stumbling about are soon left behind.Good luck

For what it's worth, I think a good thing to keep in mind is that the external temple furnishings have a lot less to do with what is going on in LBRP than most people think. The elemental weapons, while certainly important in their own right, and useful in many rituals, are not even necessary for an effective banishing. The dagger or sword can be helpful in banishing, but usually only after some time using said weapon in ritual.
LBRP can be, and should be able to be, performed successfully in an empty room with one's finger. The external tools and ritual setting are useful in that they give tangible symbols to attach concepts to, and a certain psychological effect: they set a 'mood' appropriate for ritual.
In the end, whatever works for you, use it. When something changes, record it. Be scientific. This action/tool/time/place produces effect A, that action/tool/time/place produces effect B. How are they different? This is the importance of keeping a magickal record.
