Hi everyone!
I'm Orione. I am from the Netherlands and I have registered to learn more about Thelema and related subjects.
Some background: I was raised part catholic, part agnostic, which has given me a sense of mystery and ritual as well as a general skeptisism towards everything (including mystery and ritual ).
In my teens I became interested in Wicca, but I quickly figured out that the Wiccan Rede did not fit the laws of the universe as I perceived them to be.
Crowley was actively feared in the circles I was in and the little that I knew about him and his works seemed to confirm that he ought to be feared. I was really drawn to the Toth tarot deck however, and this scared me to no end. One day I decided to purchase it anyway, fully expecting to have a good look at it, decide that it was both 'too scary' and 'so-not-for-me' and get the deck out of my system (& into the trash can ). Needless to say that my other decks have been gathering dust since that day - about 10 years ago.
I have since become less skeptical about Crowley's works and have been studying them on and off. I adore his writing styles in (for example) the book of Toth, Magic without Tears, and the Eight Lectures on Yoga. It is friendly, witty and it's like learning about the universe from your favourite grandfather. But I still have quite a lot of trouble reading Liber AL and works like that with their bombastic language. (I hope I don't offend anyone by that admission.) Yet his more accessible works have shown me that he absolutely knows what he is talking about and I keep coming back to them to learn more. I feel that I should get over myself and start studying the more 'difficult' works too. (If anyone has any tips for this, I am very open to them!)So, I have decided that it's time to stop this "will I, won't I" kind of relationship I have had with Thelema study for the last 10 years, and I have decided that indeed "I will". As a first act of getting more serious about it, I have registered here. I am impressed with the level of intelligent feedback that is given here and I hope to learn a lot from being a member.
Thank you for reading!

Hello, Orione, greetings from Flanders, Belgium, I also like to take a look and at times post here on Heruraha.net, (but only when I think my post will be worth something to considerate, though. . . ) I hope you will learn a lot here on Crowley, Thelema and related items, I still have a lot of study to do relating to Crowley, though I have an interest in him for over 20 years now, I'm also a member of Lashtal.com, maybe we can meet there as well, anyway best wishes from Alysa.

Blessings Great Hunter!
For nine and half months I didnt know Who I carried, until I saw Him in the sky for the first time. Seems like he follows me everywhere now.
I have a great love of the Thoth deck, even though some of the colors make me ill..... -
Thank you for the welcome Veronica!
I love the myth of Orion - he is the greatest mortal hunter and then he accidently becomes the prey of the greates Huntress and gets killed for love...
I received the name from someone I first worked magick with (the -e being added to make it more feminine sounding). I love that you actually know the starsign and mythologic figure. In other company I am always asked whether I misspelled Oreos
If you don't mind my asking: why is Orion is 'hunting' you at the moment?I used to also think that some of the colours of the Toth tarot were a bit 'off' (especially the beige/green combinations), but I have come to really appreciate them. They have a very antroposophical feel to them. I recently learned that Lady Harris was indeed somewhat involved with that movement, so no wonder!
Thank you also for the welcome Alysa! And for telling me about the other website!

he he.....Orion hunts me because he is my 9 year old son:)
Eventhough he is independant to the max, he is still a bit of a momma's boy and is always hunting me down to show off his talents: last week it was his skills at archery, his toad collection and the plans he has for building a fortress in the forest for his Scouting achievements (and a refuge from his little sister;).
He hunted through several thousand volumes of books to find a 1992 Gun Digest for the luck price of .25$ just the other day as I was at work at the library sorting books for the annual booksale.
For the whole time I carried him, I couldnt figure out what to call him......then the night before he was born I saw an owl out side (first time I ever saw a wild owl) I went out to see it better, and my husband looked up and saw the constillation and said "what about Orion?" and that was that.
Because you added an e, I am assuming you are a lady?

Welcome Orione, You input is much appreciated!!! and i hope it will be given the due consideration it deserves especially when dealing with women and Thelema, since I believe it is an insult to the intelligence of women that men are presuptuous enough to attempt speak for the other-half of the human race as a parent would a child, forgive me if I seem over enthusiastic thanks for your optimism and faith and may you sink to the infinite, blissful depths of Nuit

"What made you feel sick about the colours?"
Lady Harris deliberately used certain hues of paint when she made certain Thoth cards that would invoke (?) elicite, a physical repulsion, make you sick (5 cups espically is yucky to me). I didnt know this for the first 20 years I used them, and only recently found out this fact in a tarot study class I am hosting. I thought it was just me.....
