Tarot Guardians
-
I'm not quite "fluent" yet with my Tarot Understanding to each card by memory (mainly because i practise on myself and keep getting the same cards!! lol) but i do adore the connection i feel in them... i feel i can littrelly talk and receive messages from the empress, and that the high preistess is rooting for me..smiles..whimsical i know but i see each (or most) of the major arcana as guardians..
i "invented" a reading for myself one night .. i saw the yearly wheel where you draw a card for each month of the year and it will tell you what lies ahead..I decided to do this in minor arcana, and then do another twelve cards around the outside of the Major Arcana and these would be my month guides... i remember seeing a card that i really knew wasnt a good card and that january would be a hard month i wouldnt find any solace in..not too happy, i tried to pass it off and forgot about it until i went through hell .. yet by god did it prepare me spiritually to know that somebody was watching over me and would be guiding me through a hard part of my growing life..( I dont want to get into what it was, but i also thank Voodoo's Erzulie for coming to my aid...and for teaching me that my wording could hinder my progress!!)
Does anybody know if this is a set theory yet? Do you have one?
All thougts and questions...

You cant always get what you want
but if you try sometimes you might find
that you get what you need(Mick Jagger)
There is a tradition that you should not try to perform a divination on yourself, I believe the reason for this is that we will subconsciously try to alter the outcome of a reading to make it bear more resemblance to what you want to see.
The reading you "invented" is in fact an old Tarot spread, but then the Image of the calender is so deeply rooted in the human psyche that its not surprising that you managed to dredge it up.
The Tarot trumps are a wonderful way to begin interacting with archtypical images, its a lifetime journey though, really a treasurehouse of images, I hope you enjoy it. -
I have never had much luck using other peoples spreads. I have seen yearly spreads like the one you spoke of, but have not ever used it. I like to make my own spreads, depending on the situation, but I dont think I use the tarot to divine per say. I use it more for a tool for personal transformation or to shed insight on to a situation.
As for guardians, well I created some nice ones out of boy toys.....GI JOE, King Kong, Godzilla, Spiderman, Spawn....those are the tough guys guarding me and mine;)

That is a good quote.. i like the lyrics to Under My Thumb too winks LOL
yes i've heard you shouldnt, but i dont really have a guinea pig.. i get them out to divine with once in a while, and try to relate stories and myths i know well to each card that represents it, its the minor arcana that baffle me..
Master gets mad at me now and then lol, because ill read it in the most pessimistic way and not really see the good messages (i get him to see if my interpretations seem off or not on some of the more important ones) i've had some very strong messages come in, things i thought were idiocity until lo and behold they make sense in a few months time.
lol no thought is original is it? i'm still pretty impressed i tapped into it lol..
i was having problems with my daughter, she was on a self distruct and i couldnt let it go anymore so i had to crack down a little harder on her on the strict sense.. frustrated at how things were going i made up a layout asking what was goingon with her , why was she reacting to it this way , what she needs, what she could do without, and when it will be resolved... it walked me right through her thought patterns... i took the advice (i'd invoked the empress's card in my own way for the significator as thats what i needed help on, mothering) i found round about ways to clarify if she felt like the cards and she had been...we've been hitting off great now problem resolved
lol i do really enjoy the experience of working with the tarot cards, and i love the imagry on these too, i'm a bit of an artist myself and love symbolism etc
Vernoica i find we instinctively know what will be right for us and what wont be, its a case of running with it as though it could work to see if the answer would suggest that it did
lol you know that most of those were designed by the companys involved in the whole conspiracy theories ...lol spidey's a double agent but only in their sense. anything to clear off the boogeyman!

You seem to have a knack for divination, although as you yourself noticed the first problem is your own bias in interpretation, this can come with practice though, maybe learning to meditate in a purely abstract way to enable you to detach from your wants and expectations, I think you have an advantage in that your master obviously knows this too and can probably keep you on the straight and narrow.
Personally I would say I am similar to Veronica in that I primarily use the Tarot for magickal work and meditation, although I did start out doing divinations, and I would say that the symbols of the tarot are what really knit the ideas of the Qaballah together in my mind and breathed life into the whole system.
knowledge of the qabballah will improve your knowledge of the four suits and court cards, the knowledge of which is more to do with the symbolism of numbers and the astrological attributions, whereas the trumps are largely intuitive and archetypal in meaning.Which Tarot deck do you use by the way?

This could be a species of chaos magic yes/no?
how would you say these guardians compare with the usual occult fare of demons and Gods etc? -
pixie, an excellent book on Thoth tarot, I think you could find it very useful: "The Keys Of Arcana" - I didn't find it on amazon, so here's the direct link to the author's site

(it exists only as an ebook; look down and left on that page)
