divine names on magical tools?
-
Is it absolutely necessary to have every divine name and sigil written on the magical tools, Crowley doesn't even seem to mention sigils and names and such when talking about the tools in book 4? I am having trouble fitting all the names on my dagger and I was wondering if it is a big deal if I just leave a few out or exclude all the names. Would my altar be unbalanced if I have the sigils and names written on the other tools but not the dagger?

93,
For eight years I had a 'nameless' dagger which I suppose you could say was seriously magical or mystical, if you wanted to get pedantic. The key thing is, this needs to be an implement that you feel comfortable using and working with. If adding a lot of ornamentation is hard to do, or you're likely to create an unsatisfactory outcome, then keep things to a minimum. Choose the symbols and words that are most meaningful to you personally, rather than going strictly by the book. They'll have more power for you, for this reason.

More or less nothing is absolutely necessary in this regard.
"Crowley doesn't even seem to mention sigils and names and such when talking about the tools in book 4?"
If one chooses to follow the A.'.A.'. model (not the only model to follow, unless, perhaps, one is actively following the A.'.A.'. plan), then he advises certain things to be on the implements in Liber A. You appear to be following Golden Dawn instructions, and, if that's the path you're going, then there is no reason not to.

No.
My one actual recommendation on this is: appreciate the beauty of your tools before you add anything to them. I'm not suggesting that you want to leave them that way, just that your starting point on appreciating their esthetic should be the unadorned. One factor to weigh into your choices about names etc. is the question of maintaining the beauty of the tools.
Another thing you probably don't know - since it's almost totally unknown outside of obligated circles, although the raw information has been published for centuries - is that there is a different alphabet available for each element. These are given in Cols. 111-115 of my 776 1/2. I bet you could figure out how to use these

thinking bout that, i have my own question. do i have to fabricate a dagger for the A.'.A.'. or can i just keep my old one? i have done many workings with it and to part with it is to castrate myself.
