Are the A.'.A.'. grade rituals based on the Cipher Manuscript like the Golden Dawn is? I get the feeling the answer is no or not really.

The simple answer is No.
The only one that conceivably be so (i.e., is a version of a First Order G.D. degree) is the 1=10 initiation ritual, Liber T'ra'a. But even here, the answer is, "only indirectly."
Cevcil Jones broke the Golden Dawn ritual down to his understanding of its essential. (It doesn't look like the cipher mss. at all - it was his extraction of the actual formula underlying the cipher mss. outline.) Crowley then wrote a new ritual based on Jones' outline.
