Just to add my 2 cents and share a personnal, non conventional technique:
Practice fighting ! Then you'll learn how to defend.
Dont necessarly join a boxing gym(even if that would help)... just fight in the astral.
There are tough beings who like to kick ass just like on the physical plane.
If you can kick more ass than them, then you'll know how to defend...
Find a master in the astral so he teaches you how to mix magick and classic ass kicking. For the little i can say it can involve fighting with pure intentions, points of vue, "ways" of presence and stuff, on top of classic energy manipulation and striking. If you identify yourself with multiple points of vue at the same time, or with a planet, how do you fight? Find out !
If anything goes wrong do the Harpocrates sign with all your will and shout a huge "kiai" to make the whole universe tremble !
Then when you have those basics in the astral you can achor them in the physical plane.

To do it correctly you must visualise two crocodiles under your feet. One under each foot.
There's also a version where you can do it sitting in classic asana. Then you visualise a lotus under thee. Also you form a "black egg" with your aura. It's shining black, close to indigo.

Older thread I know but I suggest digging up Marcelo Motta's text Astral Attack & Defense. It covers a lot of the same ground, literally, as Fortune as it started as a translation of her work but becomes it's own thing about chapter 4 on.
Another suggestion, as ridiculous as it sounds, get books on pick up artistry. You will learn applied body language and use of voice by studying their material very in depth.
