"Awesome! Looks like we've got a good crew lined up for this! I'm pumped!"

Yep, ready to go. Any ideas on the format this time through? I'm going to peruse the last project in the next couple of days as a warm-up and dust off my copy of "The Book of Thoth."

I've been devoting a lot of study to the I Ching as well, so one of my personal focuses is to study how Crowley correlated the I Ching with the Tarot. The I Ching is a great daily meditation book as well, I've discovered.

At any rate, I'm excited for the project to begin. 😄

Edit: Okay, scratch some of that. Now that the old thread is open I see the format and instructions, etc.

So I read the instructions. Is one limited to fifteen minutes, or can one extend that length of time beyond that/combine the Tarot meditation with Asana/etc? Is the process as described in the instructions mandatory or open for experimentation/alteration? (I see how if we are trying to compare and compile notes on a collective meditation project it would be best to establish the same process for everybody's meditation....just wondering.)

I agree however if there are certain practices you already have in place that you think will support you in getting the most out of the meditations then I encourage you to keep them and integrate them with the instructions in a way that would work best for you. Do your best to stay as true to the instructions as possible while giving yourself some room to experiment.

Just to confirm - before we start:

We are going one card a day, beginning with ATU 0 , going through all the major Arcana, then through the Minor Arcana, and then the Court Cards --- is this correct?

Oh you know what I missed that Jim.

    Thanks for catching that.

3 days per card. Majors -> Minors -> Courts.

I actually think I'd like to give this a go. Trust me to sign up at the very last minute....

Is the plan to do 1 card every three days move to another and then have one day a week off (in this case monday) or is it to do one card three times a week?

One card for three days, in sequence; not sure for the seventh day off, but I think it would be a good thing to do - thus we would have a brief pause after each consequent pair of cards. Al-Shariyf, what sayeth thou?

BTW, it's 31st of December already in my corner of the world, so I've started with the meditation today 😀
(Will be summarily posting notes after 3 days for a card)

"Six days shalt thou labor, but on the seventh shalt thou rest from thine Tarot meditations..." 😆

I think taking the seventh day off is a good way to rest and reflect on the week's meditations. But to each their own.

    "

I'll be perusing the Book of Thoth and reading "the Fool" in preparation for tomorrow's meditation, which I intend to do in the morning. My girlfriend is also joining me with the meditations, so this will be a great way to observe a non-Thelemite's perspective on the cards (she is more of the pagan/witch/gypsy type, so she is already familiar with the Waite deck.)

Glad to have you with us Mark; the more the merrier. 😄

My method will involve the fifteen minute meditation as per the instructions. I will be using the Dragon Asana, and I might finish the Tarot meditation with a period of Asana/Meditation. On the other hand, it might be best to write my reflections immediately after the Tarot segment. I'll experiment with different methods but keep to the fifteen minute method so that I am in accord with others' experiences.

    Let the games begin!

Edit: Oh, well I guess we start today. I'll get to it then... 😄

Edit the Second: It says in the participation instructions that we are limited to discussion of our own meditations and cannot quote from other books, etc. Does this apply to Thelemic literature as well (I am supplementing my meditation with readings from Crowley's "Book of Thoth." Are we allowed to raise questions about particulars in Crowley's text or, for instance, bring up quotations or passages from Thelemic books that come to mind during or after meditation?

That is correct. A pause after each pair of cards. So for example from 12/31-1/2 We're working on the Fool. From 1/3-1/5 The magician. 1/6 is a rest day and we pick it back up on 1/7 with the Priestess and so on...

I'll say it this way: what we don't want is to have the definitions of the cards outside of Liber Theta posted here. For example, in the first run, the person I was co-managing the project with would post definitions of the cards she got from other sources instead of posting the outcomes of her meditations. That's what we don't want to happen here.

If something comes up in your meditation or you get an insight you want to share and you feel referencing something Crowley wrote or referencing a Holy Book will add value to the group then by all means do so.

I suggest you skip a second day to start out - so that you move the skip day to Saturday. That will serve most people best, I think.

It's about getting your results from meditation, not about your "studying up." Sure, ask questions - but maybe wait for day three (unless there's some reason it's more pressing). That's my suggestion because, once you get people started on intellectual exchange, it's hard to keep the tone on actual meditative realization or experience.

Besides, its better to get your answers from the cards themselves in meditation than to get them from someone else 😀

Gotcha; that makes perfect sense. I'll keep the focus on my personal experiences and use references sparingly if at all.

"Besides, its better to get your answers from the cards themselves in meditation than to get them from someone else 😀"

    Also makes perfect sense.

Stop making so much fucking sense, Jim! 😆

Thanks for all the clarifications. I am now fully armed and ready for the project. Looking forward to the collective experience. Happy New Year!

Likewise. (Crazy night: there is a major conjunction in Sagittarius on my afflicted Saturn/Neptune/Uranus in the third house.) I will do both meditations today.
