"Sacred Magician": Book Recommendation?
-
Has anyone read The Sacred Magician by William Bloom? If so, any comments on it?
Ciceros say the following about it:
"A must-read book that is a diary of a magician who performed the six month long ceremony known as the Sacred Magic of Abra-Melin the Mage. A no-nonsensee look at the difficulty involved in attaining true knowledge and conversation with one's Holy Guardian Angel."It's long out of print, as far as I can tell. But I found some used copies available.

Yes - HIGHLY recommended PROVIDED you get the second edition.
In the first edition he veiled a great deal that was more open and complete in the later edition.

I finally read it. Yes, I definitely see why we should get the second edition. It doesn't give much of a hint as to how to actually carry it all out, but it does, like the Ciceros say in the quote from them in my first post, give a reality check about the difficulty and serousness of this work. Geez... the guy nearly died afterwards!
But I imagine one's results are extraordinarily individual. <rhetorical question>I wonder how different this book would read if written by someone who hadn't approached the work as a New Age Christian or who had done substantial magical work prior to beginning the operation.</rhetorical question> I guess I'll find out somewhere down the road.
