Different kind of problem with Resh adorations
-
I searched and read a bunch of the previous threads regarding the Resh adorations, but didn't see any that address my specific problem.
Which is... I absolutely friggin' hate the language/phrasing! When I read Resh it grates on my every last nerve. It just sounds ugly and stupid to me, not at all conducive to an attitude or experience of adoration.
But I want to do some kind of 4x/day solar adorations. Should I just rewrite them? Find an alternative? Push through and do it anyway?
Has anyone else ever had this response/reaction to the language of Resh?

YES on all 4!
I'm new to Resh too. I usually feel it's best when performing a ritual to not recite something you do not understand or feel is coming from your heart. I can't take myself seriously sometimes when I hear my voice saying all the Thee's and Thy's since it's kind of an archaic way to speak but when Crowley uses these and they are capitalized he is referring to your higher self or HGA that lives in Tiphareth ruled by the Sun therefore it's not necessarily suppose to feel natural or normal to you because it's to open the ways of communication with a more formal aspect of you who even you aren't too familiar with yet. I had/have a really hard time memorizing/remembering the words of Resh for some reason and I've played the lead in a Shakespeare play before! If I don't have it written in front of me I say whatever comes naturally like "who travels over the heavens at the midnight hour" because it's the "travellest" and "in Thy bark" that throw me for a loop since I'm not sure what a bark is... I can tell you though I eventually got over the silly feeling and noticed results almost immediately which always helps with taking yourself and the Work seriously. Hope that helps for whatever it's worth

93 all,
Under the tread: Liber Resh and Liber Al.
"Quote Jim:
"O Thou, Root of all Wisdom! Thou dost arise in the east, even as Thou art uplifted in my heart. Thou art the dawning of Knowledge: Awaken me to the Knowledge of the Dawn. Admit me into thy Life of LIBERTY."
O Thou, Root of all Power! Thou art refulgent in the south, even as Thou shinest in Eternal Splendor within my heart. Thou art triumphant Courage: Strengthen me to embrace every experience of life. Admit me into thy Life of LIGHT.
O Thou, Root of all Love! Thou art set in the west, even as Thou hast penetrated the cavernous depths of my soul. Thou art the Silence of the End: Fulfill me in the rapture of thy Stillness. Admit me into thy Life of LOVE.
O Thou, Who art all Power, Love, and Wisdom! Thou, O Sun of Midnight, art the veiled splendor of my heart. Thou art the Hidden Will, the Seed of Truth: Lead me to know and do my True Will. Admit me into the fullness of thy Secret LIFE."
These are the ones I use, they were writtin by JAE. I have found them to be extremely useful and suggestive. I have also added a few personal touches to each one. After the morning adoration I chant Shaddai El Chai on E and imagine I am Atu-O, then I surrounded myself with a yellow globe. After the noon adoration I chant YHVH Tzboath on C natural and imagine I am Atu-XX, then I surrounded myself with a red globe. After the evening adoration I chant Elohim Tzboath on G# and imagine that I am Atu-XII, then I surround my self with a blue globe and finally before bed, I do the midnight adoration, chant Adonai Ha Retz on A natural and imagine that I am Atu-XXI and surround myself with a blue violet globe. I hope this helps?

I'll pass along the sound advice my teacher gave me 30 years ago on other matters.
When a task (whether ritual, a particular reading, or whatever) is assigned and it grates, repulses, etc. - or even lesser forms of resistence - then you can be sure that it's a personality issue. Your ego is resisting something. It's not always easy to tell what the "something" is, but it's always easy to know what to do about it: Persevere! Simply stop fighting it and set a period longer than seems comfortable - at least a month - during which you will persevere in this regardless. Observe what happens.
The issue is one of discipline - of taking something because you were told to do so, with an inner conviction (or at least acceptance) that the person who told you knows more than you do on the subject. - In this particular instance, the perseverence in this light is, itself, an act of devotion and adoration.

93 Asraiya,
I appreciate your comments. FYI, a bark or barque is simply a boat, thus the references to the "prow" and "helm", which are the front part and the steering mechanism, respectively. The imagery then suggests Tahuti and Ra-Hoor manning a boat that carries the sun through it's various aspects of travel throughout the day/night cycle.

Thanks for these; I see their value as alternatives, and yet they retain enough of the style of the original that I might as well start with the originals if I'm going to do either. At least for now; afterwards I might try Jim's.

"I had considered this and don't really feel this is the case, but I will make a 90-day programmed experiment with them given your advice. I still have a few concerns, for which I will reserve mention until after the end of my experiment if they still have relevance at that time.
Thanks Jim!

the boat is true, but also on another level the spelling bark is significant. The bark of a tree is it's outer layer, its external appearance.
When we turn our worship to the physical sun, what we worship is the inner truth which the sun is a mere symbol, a cast off shell, the Qippoth.
Thus the Gods Ra-Hoor and Thoth, travel in the physical world inside their bark or material body. We the bark is the Khu and Horus is the Khabs.
So to with ourselves, the HGA (which we identify with Ra-Hoor, the sun) travels in its Bark, the physical flesh.
Thus the use of Bark rather than barque, ship, boat, or even Ark, was deliberate to foster the identity of ones HGA with the Solar God. The external object of devotion reflects back on to the inner divinity. The worshiper and the worshiped dissolve, to manifest that which is the higher essence of both.

I see your point about bark and the sun being an outward symbol of a higher truth, but why would you connect the Sun with Qlippoth? It's not an unbalanced force or shell.
-
the sun is a shell, the outer shell of tiphereth, a Himog.
THE HIMOG19
A red rose absorbs all colours but red; red is therefore the one colour that it is not.
This Law, Reason, Time, Space, all Limitation blinds us to Truth.
All that we know of Man, Nature, God, is just that which they are not; it is that which they throw off as repugnant.
The HIMOG is only visible in so far as He is imperfect.
Then are they all glorious who seem not to be glorious, as the HIMOG is All-glorious Within?
It may be so.
How then distinguish the inglorious and perfect HIMOG from the inglorious man of earth?
Distinguish not!
But thyself Ex-tinguish: HIMOG art thou, and HIMOG shalt thou be.

OH! Well, duh!
I always had the image in my head of them sitting in their bennu boat floating down the Nile or rather through the heavens.. I had about decided it must be the mast, being wooden therefore (tree) bark. If it was a shortened to just ark that would have made perfect sense but the extra consonant changed it drastically in my mind like "Hark! I hear the dog Bark!" Lol... Thanks for humoring me!Ankh, you're version is beautiful btw

93 All,
"Asraiya:
Ankh, you're version is beautiful btw "Thank you for the complement Asraiya. But itβs really JAE beautiful adorations that inspired me.
I started using the Tarot images instead of god-forms because; I have a really high comfort level with them. That is, I know the Hebrew letter, the intelligents, color, sound, path on the Tree of life, planet, and Zodiacal sign that each Tarot image ruleβs with out a whole lot of thought. Again, thanks for the complement.
