Astral vision
-
I am very curious about this as well. I would be ecstatic if someone would tell me if gold is necessary for this. I dont think I can afford a gold coin cuz the cheapest I found are in the hundreds and that's for the small size. I collect coins so it wouldn't be completely for this. On a whim I tried astral projection using a pound coin which is mostly copper in composition and I must say I did feel more electricity or energy like it felt easier to separate and also more vibrations. But I am very curious if this is a placebo and gold is necessary. Thanks all

"Does anybody have any idea as to what the reason would be for Crowley putting a gold disk or coin in his mouth in connection with an astral vision."
It's the old Greek custom of ensuring that a corpse has a coin to pay the ferryman, Charon, so that one get get across the river into the afterlife instead of being kept waiting on the banks of this world. He was evidently using it to act out that particular myth.
It isn't necessary in order to do astral vision.

thanks for that info! its great
so does that mean only gold and silver help?
they are so expensive
i only have 'cheap' coins.. that doesn't help huh? -

pennies are good too if you stick them under your tongue, for passing breathalizers lolbut what about nickel's or dimes? copper is a great conductor form electricity which is used for mostly anything that carries a electrical current. or better yet does anyone know of different ways to use such materials(hopefully the cheap US coins like i have) to aid in meditation of any and all sorts?

after researching it a bit more along the lines of conductivity (electrical electromagnetical and thus astral to some degree) it seems like copper coins will work almost as well as gold and silver ones. and pure is best obviously but we don't all have the funds to go out and spend a few hundred to a thou on a gold coin. so since i felt some good vibrations and more 'excitation' with the pound coin in my mouth i am sure it works better than nothing due to the copper content.
so for what its worth;
gold coins work, silver coins work,
partly-gold coins work, part-silver coins work (like a silver dollar for example, roosevelt are the easiest to find)
copper coins work,
mostly copper coins work (english pound coins, american pennies)
its just an aid to the conductivity.
they taste....interestingcheck this out everyone it uses the same concepts but in a much purer and more compex and probably thus a more effective way for an astral projection machine: www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_metaphysics/astral_projection_device-t30008.90.html

since a nickel is mostly copper, (75%) and copper is a good conductor, I'm sure they help as well.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel_(United_States_coincrowley used these coins images.google.com/images?q=gold+mohur
i guess because they are mostly if not pure gold. which is the best conductor. except the most costly too obviously. -
"On one occasion, I saw him slip something into his mouth before I closed my eyes at the outset of a test in spirit vision."
Are you sure it wasn't a peyote button?
I generally avoid putting spare change in my mouth. Unsanitary, dontcha know.
But yes, 'tis sympathetic Magick. Check out the alchemical tables in 777; they'll give you a good idea of how it works.
Just don't go sucking on your dad's lead fishing lures, kids.

if you wash it and its also mostly copper youre fine. same thing with gold.
it is well known that copper is used: As a naturally biostatic surface in hospitals (Bacteriostatic antibiotics limit the growth of bacteria by interfering with bacterial protein production, DNA replication, or other aspects of bacterial cellular metabolism.) and to line parts of ships to protect against barnacles and mussels, originally used pure, but superseded by Muntz metal. Bacteria will not grow on a copper surface because it is biostatic. Copper doorknobs are used by hospitals to reduce the transfer of disease, and Legionnaires' disease is suppressed by copper tubing in air-conditioning systems.Copper(II) sulfate is used as a fungicide and as algae control in domestic lakes and ponds. It is used in gardening powders and sprays to kill mildew.
also for gold
Pure metallic (elemental) gold is non-toxic and non-irritating when ingested[53] and is sometimes used as a food decoration in the form of gold leaf.so keep on suckin those coins. after you wash them
