DXM & other tips

That's an awful lot of words for instructions which boil down to:
- Overdose on cough syrup;
- Go to a secluded location;
- Perform the magical or mystical practice of your choice.
No thanks.

I apologize, I meant to say, Dharana. In particular the meditation upon the five Tatwas. And yes, 30 minutes of Pranayama is alot. I will fix that for beginners, but I have been practicing Pranayama for 10 years, so I am able to perform it for that amount of time, in the right circumstances. I will edit the statement though, thank you RifRaf.
I have never taken cough syrup, there is a pure form, I can't even stomach one spoon full of cough syrup. If one were dumb enough to attempt advanced ritual at any time other than when one was ready to do so, that would be a terrible tradgedy, and I am not going to assume the people that post on this board are dumb. I see that you obviously are close-minded, judgemental, and completely naive about the use of dissociatives, psychadelics, or any other drugs that may be used in a manner that would enhance ones experiences.
That leads me to believe that you probably have issues with Crowley's own practices, and other great magi that have used them to assist their work. You added secluded places in your list of things..."no thanks" that also leads me to believe that you are against the concept of performing magic in nature?
It is not posible to OD on "cough syrup" or DXM at those levels, any amount of research will show you that one would need about three times that amount to overdose. Another statement of ignorance.
In any account, I didn't make the post to get into a wasteful debate, but to be helpful. If one choses to ignore a very real and widespread practice that is an acknowledged part of the work of many, including the founder of Thelema, than they are being hypocritical, as they are not accepting the concept as a whole, only the parts of it they chose to. Besides, ones True Will should never interfere with another.

Rifraf.
I found what you said about using Heroin for the extra help with astral work interesting..but Heroin is a little scary I must say to be using.
I have some left over Methadone pills from my aunt when she was alive[cancer issue I think]and I use less that 10MG and when I go to go to sleep some time and I really feel relaxed enough to feel like I could lunch my self into it[astral travel]but sadly it doesn't let me sleep well so I think it chancel's it out.
I have had other very vivid astral experience's in the past but sober.

DXM actually binds to the opiod receptors in your brain and tricks it into thinking that you've taken a form of opiate, much like methadone, or saboxoane. Just an FYI.
I know you can od on dxm, but not at the level I referred too in the original post.
The "nod" that you speak of is familiar to me. But not via the experience that you've had. I get my from forcing myself to sleep for only two to three hours a night for about three days. I don't do that much more any longer, but it was very affective in the past.
However, the levels of concentration, or better yet, of emptiness that I have obtained on dxm are truly...for lack of a better worde, divine

he speaks wise words, dangerous words, but wise none the less. Excercise extreme caution, do not do this alone, and prepare yourself well. No matter how much you prepare, it will not be enough. Not all that begin a journey are destined to finish it. Beware, once you set foot upon this path, you cannot turn back.

Really.
Dangerous=Drugs.
Think about it. Then rethink about it.

chrys333"Many years of thought, Many years of trial, and of error, and of success. I agree with you my friend, which is why I posted my warning, though I see how it could be considered encourgement, rather than a warning. Perhpas wise was a poor choice to describe his words, as there is truth in them but dangerous truth, and not enough information in his post to mittigate the dangerous inclutions. I will not deny there is truth is in his words, though I advise anyone that seeks that you have YEARS of research and preperation before any such trial should be considered, this is not a working one does on the spur of the moment or without the necessary preperation that so few these days are willing to endure. I would of preferred that the substance was not so overtly spoken of, and a cue taken from Mr. Crowley, and speak in metaphour, again a dying art.
be well

Our friends are good at knocking on doors, but you still need to know the password.

You're right archigubernus, and thank you for your reply. It is a path from which one cannot turn back. Especially once you've reached the third plateau of experience, and travelled to the Astral. Once the Doors of Perception are open, it's very hard to close them again, if it's even possible. I think the dissociation that occurs "fizzles" our conscious receptors, much the same way that long periods of asana/pranayama do, allowing that access to the subconscious and beyond.

I experimented with this sort of thing with poor instructions and ill-preparation. Not a good time. In fact it took quite a while to recover and I'm still not entirely clear on what happened. So I guess, just saying--this could be a powerful experience and I see the potential for awesome growth, but watch out, and don't mess.

If you would like specific directions at any time, I would be more than happy to talk to you via pm or email. Otherwise there are educational site you can visit to read about it and others' experiences with their experimentation.

Keep in mind, that dose varries by body weight, so 600 mg for a 200lb person can put you on the third plateau, ( i dont recomend this ), but for a 110# person, would take you past the 4th..... again, research research research....
