Body of Light and the Astral Plane.. Once Again
-
93 everyone
I would love to have a quick response to this. I have seemed to get the basics of mainly the basis of magick except this..
The astral plane and forming the body of light
I've read liber o several hundred times. I cannot seem to do it..
Right now I cannot join the A.'. A.'. TO get the insides and outs about this
I just want to know how to do it. Maybe someone can give me some simplified instructions on how to get me out of my body to these planes. and to "rise on the planes." I need to connect to my HGA.. I know he is there.. I just need to rise on the planes to connect with him..
Please help

I'm in a very similar position as yourself. I can't add anything, except that there are a lot of books on astral projection, not directly related to Crowley, and some seem pretty helpful. I love how Liber O points out that one certain step is the really "difficult" one! Definitely an understatement. In analyzing my own lack of success... I think I just do it when I'm not fully rested - hence sleepy- probably my number one set up for failure. Good luck!

"The astral plane and forming the body of light"
Here are a few extracts that give some sources that contain a lot of hints:
Astral Projection
The current text is by Douglas Baker, to be found at:
www.scn.org/anon/dossiers/astral/astral_1.htmDo not neglect the brief comments located at:
**(http://blazing-diamond.angelfire.com/073mexce.htm)[Then there's] Oliver Fox. His version is getting hard to find, yet a used copy was recently seen on the www for seven dollars. A summary of the techniques put forth by Fox and several authors can be found at: www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~jchap/tvastte.htm
This is an extract from a lashtal.com forum thread on astral projection:
"As AC said, the difficult part is probably going to be separating from the physical body.
"Here is a technique that has always worked for almost anyone:
(a) You must start with a person who is able to easily slip out of their body (it's called "Astral Projection," and the person is called a "guru" or a "teacher" or an "adept" or an "accomplished projector," etc.).
(b) Then, of course, there must be a second person (the "student") who has not yet gotten out (or has, but is having difficulty doing it again).
(c) Give the "student" a liberal dosage of the power plant (or libation extract) of your choice. The "teacher" may or may-not require this, depending on his or her skill.
(d) After banishing and invocation, the teacher simply yanks the student out of his or her body. Repeatedly, if necessary, until the student can do it alone.
(e) Afterward, the student should find that he or she can do this without the support of a libation, although sometimes a few additional "supported" sessions might be necessary."
[This implies that you might have to find someone to help you - they don't need to be "OTO" or "AA", but they do need to be "accomplished"]. -
If you are having trouble with the methods you described, you might look into the 'Monroe Method' which works a little different. I had success with this when I was in my early teens before I knew of the Thelemic methods. I don't have his book anymore, but a quick google produced this halfway decent link:
His group, I think called the Monroe Foundation, also sell tapes to help you get the vibrational frequency, but I never tried those.
You can try lucid dreaming, which some say your dream body is your Body of Light. During waking hours ask yourself 'am I dreaming'. If you are persistent, most likely you will ask the same question in the dream, and the answer is, yes, I am dreaming. Then remember to look down at your hands. Then you are lucid and 'astral projected'. The trick is to stay that way. Valerian root and vitamin b6 & b12 can give a boost.
Performing the LBRP daily will likely help in all those areas, there's alot of stuff going on there to stimulate Body of Light and HGA, but it won't directly accomplish those. The meditation and yoga are also key.
A Garden of Pomegranates has a section on guided rising on the planes.

OP,
After much reading and practice I have come to the conclusion that crowleys methods are identical to the WILD technique for lucid dreaming.
The WILD technique is a method of keeping the mind awake while the body goes to sleep.
The method results in hypnogogic halicinations as your body falls asleep and your subconcious mind ramps up while your concious mind is still awake.
AS you go further in you expereince "footprints" - highly vivid dream flashes as your subconcious comes on line.
The final step is the full blown vibrations followed by concious exit of your conciousness from your body.
Wether this is tavel to the astral planes or an extremely vivid lucid dream is for you to interpret.
All the method requires is absolute patience and freedom from the desire for result. The trick is to lie absolutley still - ignoring the desire to swallow, itch, move in any way. The body triggers these events to "test" whether you are asleep or awake - keeping the mind alert by following simple auto hypnosis techniques and mental exercises such as performing the LBRP, Star Ruby, Reguli, etc. Forming the body of light is also a valid way to keep the mind awake - but counting, visulisation of ritual, all work just as well.
I am convinced that Crowley as a master of yoga and meditation was able to put his body to sleep via complete imobilization and then keeping his concious mind awake as his subconcious mind entered the dreamscape.
Go to Dreamviews.com - go to the tutorials and read and practice the WILD method. you will not be dissapointed.
WILD - wake induced lucid dream.
