VVVVV in &"Initiation in the Aeon of the Child&"

Hi All,
I read Initiation in the Aeon of the Child and found myself more confused than before
One confusing thing in particular is Gunther's assertion of the new "messiah" who is: VVVVV. Gunther goes on to say VVVVV is NOT Crowley, and that Crowley's motto as 8=3, also VVVVV, is something different. (I don't have the book in front of me to reference, so if I am misreading please let me know) If this is true, how should we determine which VVVVV Crowley is referencing in writing?What is the view on this? Does it have precedence before this book?

Well, Gunther does say that it is a topic revealed only to certain elect initiates of the A.'.A.'. but I do think there is a precedent for the concept in the Holy Books themselves. The initials come from there before Crowley was a full 8=3. He explains a good deal of it in his lecture according to friends in Sekhet Ma'at who attended it. Gunther teaches that there are 5 characters in the Holy Books, Adonai, Magister, VVVVV, Adept & Scribe. This isn't a clean cut seperation all the time but a generalization used for illustration. I don't know much more about it outside of that & remember this is Gunther's interpretation of the material. While I find I agree with his work, you might find that you do not & that is all well & good. This is a book that, much like Liber ABA, you study rather than read & set aside. Each reading presents new insights & revelations that you may have missed before. The book simply can not be read & digested on first reading and I agree with Aum418 that this book is not for beginners per se. You do have to have a basic understanding of Crowley's work & magick to grasp some of the more intricate elements of the book but some of it is useful to the grounded beginner. A lot of the revelations will come from studying the book alongside the Holy Books. There are a lot of insights into the tarot, Liber LXV & VII in there waiting to be unlocked.
