Do only the Will or do the Everything?
-
We are told in Liber Legis to do our Will and nothing else, but at the same time Crowley instructs his students to expand themselves by merging with every experience. Is this a contradiction or is this because he is operating under the premise that the expansion of the Self is an intrinsic part of each individual Will or the Universal Will?

I'm pretty sure that's what he's getting at. To achieve every possibility/ merge with everything, I think, is to become Nuit. Hadit's will is to unite with Nuit. Nuit's will is to unite with Hadit. In other words, Love is the law.

No.

You need, ultimately, to be nonresisting to any experience. This resolves a significant part of the friction of the Way of the Will. (Among many other wise sayings you already see for yourself.)
Another important perspective: We train everyone to have maximum balance and to have the capacity to be any particular thing they select. This isn't to homogenize everyone; it's that you need to have the freedom and capacity to be more or less anything before you at truly at liberty to be any particular thing.

To be one thing is to be every thing.

so pick something and master it per se? idk i knew a buddhist who mastered working with stones, and he said mastery of one thing leads a person to enlightenment, weather it be tarot cards, rekei or whatever.

Love is the law... love under will.

93, How can you know your Will unless you've experienced enough to at least move in that direction? Too, as I read Liber AL, how can you unite all unless you have experience of all? Just a thought.

Because it is a perceptual shift from "I am here, world out there" to simply "All is" or "I am" which are coterminous statements from that Point-of-View. Its not an accruing of experience in your memory.

I agree on one hand, but I find "All is" and "I Am" as the same statement. Maybe not on an ego level, but on a higher one. I'm not really sure how to express my thoughts on it. I Am encompasses All. All is One(I), and(which I struggle to understand) One is Nothing.

That is because, from that point of view, I am All.
"I also am a Star in Space, unique and self-existent, an individual essence incorruptible; I also am one Soul; I am identical with All and None. I am in All and all in me; I am, apart from all and lord of all, and one with all.
I am God, I very God of very God; I go upon my way to work my Will; I have made Matter and Motion for my mirror; I have decreed for my delight that Nothingness should figure itself as twain, that I might dream a dance of names and natures, and enjoy the substance of simplicity by watching the wanderings of my shadows."

Alrah - I'm not sure what the connection is between "Love under Will" and the Mithraic oath and how the latter is an improvement over the Liber Al version.

Jim - I'm interested how this "non-resistance" plays out in a practical way. If all phenomena is to be taken as a personal message from the Universe to oneself, is it a matter of "reading the signs" and taking the path of least resistance ("Nu! the hiding of Hadit"; "Nu is my refuge") or is one supposed to overcome every obstacle that arises no matter what?
I hear stories of adepts persevering in the face of unbelievable ordeals and this just sounds like a masochistic spectacle..

do we have to choose between the two?

Masochism requires pain. Pain is a consequence of resistence. (Think about that and see where it leads you...)
Another clue: The key is to be devoured by experience - to let it swallow you up entirelty. This is, at the very least, the practical key to courage.

93, In other words you created your own version from the Class A document? I'm kind of speed reading here, but it looks like all that is basically your own interpretations and work, not really attributed to Crowley.
-
idk, she might have a point though for example:
she was saying how jim's "nonresistence" is passive, while her interpretation of love of the HGA is active, right?
now, love under will: "under" lets say first impression would be severity.
and, love unto will: "unto" first impression would be mercy.like under would be active, and unto would be passive.
so hers would be vise versa comparied to crowley's and jim's:
love under will "active" , nonresistence "passive"
love unto will "passive", love of HGA "active"active and passive spirit pentagrams? or am i looking too far into it.
but in all i could have just pulled this out of my ass, weather its relevant or not idk, but it is a refreshing thought.
IMO "unto" does sound refreshing for some reason, like a glimps at faustian's sacrificing of a part of yourself to yourself for knowlege and power. like a water element type feal to it.

As far as I know Crowley never expressed any doubts that he heard the word 'under' correctly."
And Rose didn't correct it when she made her (accepted as authorized) few annotations on the manuscript.

Speaking for myself, it leads to an extreme sense of humor. It made me realize one of the traits of True Will is hardcore play..
-
Not at the same time. Crying first, laughing afterwards.
Fixity and rigidity opposes play, so hardcore play would be something that stirs up stuff from the unconscious, breaks up rigidity, liquifies forms, sets things in motion, causes changes that normally might take years to occur.

How about if I give you a visual metaphor instead?
