Tiphareth invoking
-
Let me simplify my question on the solar working.
I notice that for invoking the sun, the ToT uses the unicursal hexagram starting at the top point going clockwise. Other sources, however, suggest starting from the middle of the unicursal hexagram going clockwise to the upper right point. Since Tiphareth is located in the middle of the hexagram, starting in the middle makes more sense. So why does ToT teach that one should start from the top point for invoking the sun?

The Unicursal hexagram, with the attributres we use, was part of a Golden Dawn 4=7 paper. Crowley learned of it there. He used it in that way: His private notes show that he invoked the Sun starting at the top point and making the first stroke down to the right (toward the Fire point).
Regardie, not recognizing the origins (even though, ironically, he was one of the people who published the key to it), made up his own way of working. His books understandably show what he made up. This isn't a snide remark BTW - he was my friend and mentor, and I loved his creativity. But we went back to the form that (1) is the original intent and (2) is how Crowley did it.
The top point is attributed to the Sun. The bottom point is the Moon. The other four points are the four Elements distributed exactly as in the Pentagram. The center is spirit.
I have a small section on this in the larger work I'm just finishing this week for publication in the near future.
