Abbey of Thelema in California

I was viewing photos on lashtal and I came across the photograph of the Abbey of Thelema in the 1970s of Hermosa Beach California. See www.lashtal.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-2172
I was curious, does anyone have any information on this place? How it got started, by whom, how long it lasted, any interesting things that happened ritually mystically or 'paranormally' etc?
As the history of the cefalu abbey is fascinating I'd imagine any parallel story of a new Abbey would be justly so.
