Working with Hindu deities in ritual

I'm curious - have any of you worked with any Hindu deities in ritual (especially involving invocation)?
I don't remember reading anything anywhere about invoking such deities as Shiva, Vishnu, Agni, etc. (Although I do understand that many of them, especially Vishnu, can be taken more seriously as outer forms of the HGA.)I feel especially drawn to Shiva and am wondering if anyone has any experiences they are willing to share, and/or advice.
Not that I'm planning on invocation any time soon, I'm just wondering.

no ritual, no form is needed
