53. And He answered Him: Have I not the key thereof?
I am clothed with the body of flesh; I am one with the Eternal and Omnipotent God.
54. Then said Adonai: Thou hast the Head of the Hawk, and thy Phallus is the Phallus of Asar. Thou knowest the white, and thou knowest the black, and thou knowest that these are one. But why seekest thou the knowledge of their equivalence? -

But why seekest thou the knowledge of their equivalence? Why seek knowledge of their equivalence? The desire for deep self-honesty and internal congruency. Any fool can put the bellows to his fire and claim his direction is correct. Perfectionism seeks certainty.

"But why seekest thou the knowledge of their equivalence?"
Reflection:
What do you mean why do I seek the knowledge of their equivalence? Obviously so I can free myself from the ignorance and suffering NOT knowing their equivalence. And I want to know what I really am on top of that. So.... -

ANALYSIS:
V.V.V.V.V. partakes of both divinity and humanity. Neshamah claims to have the key (and, in fact, has the key) to understanding the ongoing writing of reality upon its underlying fabric. His Angel asks, "Since you understand, why do you seek knowledge?" - Knowledge is a shell game, and the "knowledge of the equivalence" of two things that are actually "one," is a false duality, a comparison of two fictions. Stopping to compare two fictions is a fast track to inventing a whole universe of fictional relationships. The key word in understanding these verses, then, is "knowledge" in the last sentence.
REFLECTION:
This boils down to, "Shut up, you fool, and kiss me!" -

54. Then said Adonai: Thou hast the Head of the Hawk, and thy Phallus is the Phallus of Asar. Thou knowest the white, and thou knowest the black, and thou knowest that these are one. But why seekest thou the knowledge of their equivalence?I don't know what lines are coming next, tomorrow.
Taken as it stands, the text speaks to me of that moment when the mind gives up, the will is overcome in its failure to accomplish something 'important.' In this moment the world floods in and is uncomplicated by the old objective. It's that moment that comes, while tripping on shrooms, where one stops trying to control everything and the tripper lets it happen. I see the closing question as rhetorical.
EDIT: after writing this I read the other posts. I found that Jim seems to have beaten me to the punch.

Truthfully I am not sure that this thought goes with this post…. BUT… Here it goes
If there was no light, then we would not know what darkness is. If we lived in total light then we would really not know what light is, because we do not know what darkness is.
Since we have both light and darkness we are able to differentiate the two when they are really not different because one relies on the other. Which one? It does not matter because alone they are both a false reality.
This is much like a person that sees telling a blind person that sight is better than feeling, and having a blind man say, but I see by feeling. This goes on to all the senses as all the senses make up a person’s reality as a person.
How much more is light over darkness or darkness over light? Without either they would not exist, so they exist as a whole.
