Creative visualization, as seen in New Thought, The Secret
-
I'm curious if anyone knows anything about this movement. I glanced at the book As a Man Thinketh, and the author seems to be talking about yoga-style control of the mind and enlightenment.
I don't know much about "New Thought" except it inspired stuff today like The Secret. Curious if the original practitioners were indeed enlightened fellows and where it emerged from.
Also curious about creative visualization (as a form of magick?), and if people have tips for it. I'm used to reading "imagine yourself having those things" "create a vision board" etc.

Everything you probably want in this vein will be found in the first BOTA course, "Seven Steps." Highly recommended.

I did BOTA's Seven Steps for quite a while. Didn't seem to much work for me. I tried this rather seriously for a few years and it was like when someone tells you not to think of a pink elephant. Wandering mind is bad? Alright then, I'll have plenty of that. Make it real and bright and experience it like it is really happening now? Okay, then, here is quite a lot of mental image flickering of the exact OPPOSITE of what you want to happen. If it really does work, then for me I would say this is a very slow method.

I have this trouble. I have been going at Enochian feverously in hopes of it sort of throwing me into the world of visualization so I know what phosphene sparks are most capable of setting me on fire. No success yet, unfortunately. As far as the actual visions go, that is. I have gained lots of insight from simply trying and failing to seek the objective Ma'atian Truth the Angels seem to boast in the process.
