Constructing Telesmatic Images for Evocation
-
i am planning to perform an evocation of hagiel, the intelligence of venus, using the structure of sample ritual 8 of 776 1/2.
as a solitary practitioner, my attempt to build the telesmatic image of hagiel is based on the information i could find, of which 776 1/2 and the black pearl have been primary. and not a little guesswork!
i have as follows:
ה: a strong and firey feminine face
ג: upper body is graceful, beautiful and slender. with blue eyes and silver hair.
י: delicate feminine body, clothed in grey white
א: yellow / gold lower dress
ל: not so sure about this, wings representing connection to divine (ends with אל), or perhaps balanced posture with feet in the shape Λ
any thoughts on this?
also, i was planning to perform this ritual this friday, however the moon will be decreasing from full, will this greatly hinder the efficacy of the working?
many thanks for enduring my questions once again!

This is pretty good. I have some questions and remarks.

Why "strong and fiery"? This sounds like you're using the older attribution of Aries to Heh. You need something, instead, that is of Aquarius - something, perhaps, inspired by Atu XVII, The Star.
"ג: upper body is graceful, beautiful and slender. with blue eyes and silver hair.
י: delicate feminine body, clothed in grey white"
This shows that you have the right idea and technique. I would split the body more into top and bottom halves, divided between these two letters, because...
"א: yellow / gold lower dress
ל: not so sure about this, wings representing connection to divine (ends with אל), or perhaps balanced posture with feet in the shape Λ"
...the -AL ending usually just represents the angelic characteristics overall - the idea of wings and light, balance and beauty, etc., of the figure overall. (Why gold for Aleph? Yellow is correct, but gold is not in its usual scale.)
"also, i was planning to perform this ritual this friday, however the moon will be decreasing from full, will this greatly hinder the efficacy of the working?"
It's not too bad, but it is getting pretty weak. Personally, I wouldn't do it then unless I had something pressing me hard to hurry. If you wait two weeks, until September 2, the Moon is strengthening, is in Libra, and is part of some excellent aspects appropriate to the undertaking.

many thanks for the swift response!

ah, yes, i was using the aries attribution. atu xvii instantly feels more intuitively correct...

great, that clears it all up... i was thinking of a golden glory as an extension of yellow, but looking now the colour scales i can see that isn't correct.

excellent, i shall schedule it for then. many thanks once again!

Pick a time on that day when Venus is crossing one of the angles - which will be about the time the Sun does also. (That is, around sunrise, noon, sunset, or midnight you will also have Venus on the same angle.) Moon aspects are better early in the day, but nothing is wrong with them later in the day.

"thanks once again, just one final matter. on that day (for me), the fire / anja tattwa nearest to when the sun crosses the angles would be at 11:23 am. start then or wait for midday exactly? (which would be during a water tattwa)"
Probably I'd pick the time that Venus is exactly on the angle herself - in your example, the time for Venus on the Midheaven. (This will be near noon, but slightly different.) I'd give the angularity priority over the tattwa in this case.

just a quick update, i performed this today... the solar noon actually coincided with the fire tattwa. it went beautifully. i found hagiel to be a very beautiful and quietly direct being with a gentle and profound sense of humour. thanks to her, and to james for your great helpful book and advice!
