How to test against Liar Spirits?
-
Upon arriving into the state of communicative discourse with the Holy Guardian Angel, or with Adonai, or any gods or spirits for that matter, what methods do you employ to know for sure you're not being manipulated?
For example, you are receiving signals or messages, witnessing miracles which lead you to believe you've come to the Knowledge and Conversation. How do you know it isn't Lucifer in disguise, or an alien from outer space or whatever unintended spirit trying to trick you?
Have you ever been tricked before, or thought you were?
Give personal experiences please. -
For one thing, by the time you've reached Tiphereth, you have passed through the Paths of the Portal - Death & the Devil and the equipoise in Samekh. That ordeal places you in... a different place.
There is a Truth Sense that grows with progress in the Great Work. It has many layers of ordeal. The true KC isn't just voices and miracles - it's a subsumption of the soul into a kind of intimate union that is truer than the whole of all true things one has ever experienced. It is characterized by a certainty that can't be faked.
-
Even when the sense of certainty of truth is keen, we rarely know exactly what we want or need, that is what leads men into foolish bargaining.
There is a reason for everything, perhaps sometimes being tricked is just part of the lesson of the ordeal to make right some future progress.
I have already accomplished the Great Work. Looking back I remember being tricked, that is why I started the thread thinking it might be useful to someone in a similar situation.
My own personal tests to ensure the wholeness or rightness or honesty of a spirit usually involves sharing the proof we love the same things. How an entity responds to undeniables is typically how to gauge integrity, but still I have made errors.

Thelemites tend to honor and respect one another's achievements, deriving joy and inspiration taking interest knowing the advancements of their fellows along the path.
This is the manner in which wisdom passes uncorrupted. It is much easier to test a dishonest human being that it is to test liar spirits.
Humility is not something I manage to maintain, it comes and goes. When a person arrives at the completion of their life's work, no matter how grand, it is all a masterpiece of foolishness. This knowing serves as a source from which to draw both humility and shamelessness.

Faust points his magical wand to his girlfriend, draws a pentagram and say βin the name of Jove, where was you Friday night?β
Better try this with spirits.

I have had what could be called numerous supernatural experiences, with what could be called higher beings....
I do not recall feeling the need to have these beings, energies, what have you vet themselves to me.
I have felt as if some human beings were testing me thou, saying falsehoods for no apparent reason other then to see if I catch it.
But I wanted to ask this, regarding the statement of when one has completed the Great Work.......
Maybe I will ask it in another thread, so it doesn't get lost or derail this one.....

The thing to keep in mind, Angel of Death, is that just because a being is from another plane, realm, or planet, this does not automatically qualify them as "higher" or "superior" to you and me. They would enjoy convincing you though, and that is why I feel all things need to be tested. (My cat is far better at getting a full day's rest than I am, but he still depends greatly upon my existence.)

You are very right, and thank you for reminding me.
One of my worst traits is my trusting nature. I seem to blindly believe what some one tells me, not wanting to believe that they would have any reason to lie to me, especially about what amounts to insignificant trivial things.
I suspect that the encounters I have had have been innocent enough that I didn't question, or maybe that they were devilish enough that I didn't care too.
One of my saving graces to this trust I have, is that if some one tells me that in their world the sky is green, then I can except that as their perspective, and not have to digest it as my own.
I guess I don't fully understand, but I am suspecting that the motives of the practioner in working are what need to be considered?

One's methods also must be questioned (that's why the magician adopts first the scientific method, to test and question also his methods).
Say for instance I did a goetic operation to discover say my short comings in business matters, naturally I need to be weary of this creature as goetic spirits are known to want to flatter the ego.
In that instance some would question the magician's motives and/or his methods. Why not instead consult with a professor at a business college, or learn from other businessmen? Yet even they may have false information or intend to lie.
-
Of course it is true, it is not in the nature of man to know such things, so yea you're right, people have no need of knowing these spirits.
However there are a few people across the surface of the earth born to handle the passage of this wisdom.
These are the shamans and prophets and magicians. -

They also greet the arrogant assumption of power and glory with skepticism. You must realize that a new "Prophet of the Aeon" or some such appears on this forum every few weeks, and proceeds to infect the entire board with all manner of malarky relating to their vast spiritual experience.
So many seek the goal, and forget that one must tread the path for the sake of treading.
"The DAO that can be DAO'd is not the Great DAO."
This may be read: "The Work that can be Worked is not the Great Work."
If you'd completed the Great Work, you wouldn't be boasting of completing the Great Work.
