    THE ROOT OF
    THE POWERS OF FIRE
    Ace of Wands

Meditation Pattern: Place the Ace of Wands between Atu XX, The Æon, and Atu XI, Lust.

Qabalistic Correspondences: The seed or root of elemental Fire. Kether of Fire, or Kether in Atziluth.

Traditional Description: A White Radiating Angelic Hand, issuing from clouds and grasping a heavy club, which has three branches in the colors, and with the sigils, of the scales. The right- and left-hand branches end, respectively, in three flames, and the center one in four flames; thus yielding 10, the number of the Sephiroth. Twenty-two leaping flames, or Yods, surround it, answering to the 22 Paths; of these, three fall below the right branch for Aleph, Mem, and Shin; seven above the central branch for the double letters; and between it and that on the right, 12 (six above and six below) about the left-hand branch. The whole is a great and flaming torch.

Meaning: The essence of the Element of Fire in its inception. The primordial energy of the Divine, manifesting in matter at so early a stage that it is not yet definitely formulated as Will. It symbolizes Force – strength, rush, vigor, energy, enterprise, initiation, beginning. It implies Natural Force, as opposed to Invoked Force. It governs various works and questions.

"The essence of the Element of Fire in its inception. The primordial energy of the Divine, manifesting in matter at so early a stage that it is not yet definitely formulated as Will. "

Today, I just keep coming back to the idea of the Everborning Child beginning to feel the stirrings of strong Lust for Life - the spark or charge that becomes Will.

I keep fighting with the idea that "beginnings" and "stirrings" and "spark" all seem like they represent weaker energies than that of the Ace of Wands, which seems to represent a much stronger fire than those words suggest.

Maybe a better analogy would be the first time you ever felt sexual desire so strong, red-faced, restless, and awake that you realized you were gonna have to figure out what you needed to do about it.

Out of those descriptions, I think stirrings would be the most accurate. What keeps coming to my mind is the idea of wanting to do something HUGE but not knowing what that thing is. You just KNOW you gotta do it and it's gonna be huge.

I just wanna check... are people using the recommended layout? That is, of Aeon and Lust on either side of the Ace of Wands for meditation purposes? If so, what are you getting from that in particular?

The Powers of the Æon stir Lust in the heart of Man.
I'm hearing that the primordial Intension we feel seeping in, urging us to bigger ideas, bigger pictures, The Big Picture, is directly from the Æonic current, and leads directly to the Æonic current.
Also, Babalon is appearing to me as the Womb that recieves this Holy seed of Motion, the Water to the Shin-fire.

Thanks for keeping us on track Jim.

I used the recommended arrangement during my meditation last night. What I took away from it was this:

The energy of the Aeon card is similar to the energy of Adjustment. This process of adjustment creates a clearing for True Will to "surface" so to speak. It comes from being very honest with ourselves and being honest about who we are and what we want. And even then, what we want (or want to do) is only a slight stirring (Ace of Wands). Something's there but what it is isn't evident. But it's presence is felt and so we move closer and closer to it. We explore it. Eventually it will become evident but for now all we can do is bask in it. (Lust)

    Yes, using the spread pattern.

Yesterday, I kept getting drawn mostly back to Harpocrates in the Aeon card, and the idea of initial sexual urges kept coming to mind.

Today, I'm looking at the paths on the Tree:

Aeon - Malkuth to Hod. Links ‘the Kingdom’ and ‘Glory’; or ‘Physical Embodiment’ with ‘Intellect.’
Lust - Geburah to Chesed. Links ‘Strength’ and ‘Mercy’; or Volition and Memory.

The beginnings of any particular act of Will are a result of the structure of reality as it is affected by its own capacity for volition and memory.

That just brought another idea to mind I got out of meditating and templating on the arrangement: the idea of "arriving" somewhere to do "something". A very particular "something".

Today, I'm back to Harpocrates. I don't know why I fixate on him more. Perhaps because I seen RHK as active already in some sense, and I'm trying to imagine inaction as the beginning. There's the feeling of wanting to do something - kind of like the frustration of boredom.

    (from right to left)

The woman riding the beast raises the offering contained in the grail up, to the sky; the grail content - the blood of saints - rushes up , into the opening in the sky and turns into the wand (Ace of Wands), thus becoming the desire that, at the end of things, will give birth to the new Aeon. 😱

Over the course the 3 days I spent working on this card, I had a number of conversations with a couple of my friends about God and our relationship to the divine. Every conversation kept coming back to the idea of God having a plan for each one of us. The Aeon trump to me represents the issuing of that plan. The ace of wands is the plan. The Lust card is the on going recollection of the plan, which shows up as an on-going process of giving ourselves over to the divine in prayer, in contemplation, meditation and action towards unfolding that plan.
