More Questions on LBRP
-
Do what Thou Wilt.
Ive been reading through the various forums, and read a lot about the various questions on the LBRP, but I have a few questions I havent found the answer to:
-
Is it best to perform the invoking in the morning and banishing at night? Or is one banishing a day acceptable? What exactly does the invoking in morning do? I feel stupid asking, as ive been doing the LBRP for years (on and off), yet don't know the answer to this.
-
Also from what I think I have read from a previous thread, it is not necessary to use the sign of the enterer in the casual LBRP. Did I understand that right?
-
How does everyone visualize the archangels? Do you use the counterchanged Colors for each, or is there another visual technique? Perhaps the telesmantic images from the letters? Or do most just visualize the basic idea and elemental weapons?
Thank you!

You haven't found a consistent answer because there are different theories here.
Certainly when first learning the ritual, one banishing a day is a great place to start. (Starting and persevering is a victory!) There are some psychic experiments with physically measurable phenomena that have shown the effects of a banishing pentagram lasting almost exactly 24 hours.
Over the years, I've become more inclined to recommend the opposite of the traditional instruction, and to suggest one banish in the morning and invoke at night, because of the effects of each - but, rather than spell out my "why," let me encourage you to experiment and discover the actual effect of each on your psyche.
"2. Also from what I think I have read from a previous thread, it is not necessary to use the sign of the enterer in the casual LBRP. Did I understand that right?"
Correct.
"3. How does everyone visualize the archangels? Do you use the counterchanged Colors for each, or is there another visual technique? Perhaps the telesmantic images from the letters? Or do most just visualize the basic idea and elemental weapons?"
Initially, keep it simple. Don't elaborate just to make it more complicated or "cooler." You are going for an image that rightly embodies a Briatic being, so authenticity and genuineness are important. Basic color of the robe is surely the single most significant thing, and letting the shadows and folds fall in the flashing color is one way to trigger an astral perception, so I recommend it. Other details... their importance will vary with the individual magician, and with the phase of his or her practice. I won't comment too specifically, other than suggest that you K.I.S.S.

Do these effects remain in the room where you perform the ritual, or do they follow you around during the day?

One of the earliest questions a friend and I tackled about the pentagram ritual "way back at the start" was whether daily "maintenance" performance by the same person in the same location was primarily affecting the individual or the location.
The conclusion we reached at the time has held up over time: Mostly, it depends on where the intention is placed. For "daily maintenance performance," the primary affect is on the magician. Any effect on the location is a side-effect (although this does build up and accumulate over a pretty short period of time - since a space tends to hold the "vibe" of the strongest and most concentrated or repeated thoughts occurring in that space).
That's different from when one intends to "banish the room," i.e., clear a magical environment (as for a specific working). In that case, intention is placed differently and the space is affected. The side-effect, in this case, is on the magician.
The experiments I mentioned in the quoted material were a still different sort. I need to be a little vague about the particulars, but I can certainly explain the generality. There is a particular object used in Temple of Thelema's ritual work that (by design) magnetizes to Q'lippothic energies. Many years ago, a very skilled dowser brought by a dowsing implement, and it was so drawn to that object that it bent sharply and was nearly ripped out of the hand. One banishing pentagram over the object, however, and it became inert - the rod no longer responded to it at all - until 24 hours later, at which point it again became active like it had before.

Good question gmugmble. I'm happy to learn the answer to that question as well!
Id like to add a little side question to this if I may. Often my girlfriend, who isn't really a practitioner, will come and meditate with me. Sometimes she will be in the room, standing with me while I perform the LBRP. I often have her just follow behind me as I rotate around drawing the pentagrams etc. My question is how does this ritual effect someone other than the performer if they are present? Can you do a banishing to include another person and give them the same effect? Will it work for them if they are simply nearby watching idly or do they have to be near you, within the circle so to speak?
