Astrology - how do you use it?

Is it used for calculating when the sun or moon are in a certain house so that you can perform rituals for planets that rule the zodiac in question?
Where is a good place to start with this?

Crowley advised that one create and utilize an Astrological chart for any important working. Personally, I've found that when one conducts a ritual in harmony with Planetary and Horary conditions, the working is far more effectual.
For instance: I've been writing up an invocation of Venus, which I intend to incorporate into a larger ritual this weekend. I'll be utilizing Sappho's "Hymn to Aphrodite" and certain Latin verses from Petrarch's "Bucolicum Carmen." On Saturday Venus will be in its own sign, Taurus, in a Grand Trine with Saturn and a waning Luna in Capricorn. In addition to this there is a Grand Trine in fire signs, between Mars, Pluto, and Mercury, and so I may incorporate an invocation of Mars as well, using the Masculine/Feminine energies to unify the working.
Such is a brief description of how I personally utilize Astrology in my workings. I'll write further on this when I have the time.
