Astrological Charts and Past Lives
-
I was wondering how someone goes about comparing their astrological chart [sidereal] with that of a possible past life.
The other day I was with a friend of mine, who was going through my copy of Visions & Voices.
She read the part about Victor Neuberg and his 'ecstatic dances' and asked me if I had ever considered the idea of having been Victor Neuberg in a past life.
I revealed that I had, while reading the very same passage as her.
Having connected with Neuberg as both an 'ecstatic dancer' and poet.
She then suggested that I do a comparison of our astrological charts.
I agreed that it was a good idea and made a note to do so in the future...That future is now and as I cracked open my copy of Visions & Voices, turning to Neubergs astrological chart I came upon my first conundrum: How does one actually go about comparing charts?
It would seem much easier, working with Tropical as all the Signs would be in the same place.
How does one account for the 'movement' of Sidereal Astrology?
As well as any other tips people may have in regards to comparing your chart to that of possible past lives.
Specifically : What kind of comparisons bear the most fruit and provide direction to such an inquiry? -
Oh yes - I am well aware of such pitfalls.
When she first mentioned it, I found it uncanny that she acquired the same notion from the passage.
Her claim being the notion found its source upon recalling my own ecstatic dancing the evening before.
It was not until later, when I went to make my investigation that it occurred she may have been picking up the residuals of my own thoughts (being the idea arrived while reading my copy specifically). So, I am keeping that in mind.
Though, I have never done such an investigation before.
Having done previous 'past life' work I never had a name or 'face' if you will to connect it to.
This seems like an interesting exercise...
Finding out whether or not I was Victor in another life is in the back seat to developing the tools of investigation.
At worst, I hope to find insights into my own personality and some of the difficulties I may face in the moment and future ones being I feel such a strong connection.Non-the-less, you do bring up valid points of consideration.

There are all sorts of theories about this - those of Theosophists having taken the strongest hold in the west - but I really have never seen any continuity.
This makes sense, actually. While two different incarnations may show certain character traits manifest similarly for consecutive 'selves,' there is no reason to believe a priori that unlearned lessons (incompleted experiences) would be picked up the very next incarnation, or that learned lessons (completed experiences) woud appear again.
For example: No way could I conceivably be Aleister Crowley. Why in the world would I want the same horoscope (with only minor variations but mostly exactly replicated) twice in a row? (Fortunately, this "no I wasn't" also conforms to my memory.)
In theory, if there is any astrological continuity at all, it would be with the date of death - the "most recent birth date" (transition across the line). Again, that's mostly a theory, but one that at least has philosophical and psychological sense behind it: Death being truly the seeding (the ejaculation) of the next phase. However - I haven't found this in practice, either.

How does one account for the 'movement' of Sidereal Astrology?"Not sure what that means. It's actually the Tropical zodiac that's moving, not the Sidereal.
Give me a few minutes, and I might be able to give a couple of examples.

So let's start with Aleister Crowley. You have his natal horocope in Visions & Voices. He was previously Eliphas Levi, who was born February 10, 1810, Paris, hour unknown.
Sign positions? Crowley was a Virgo-Aquariuis, Levi a Caprcorn-Aries. No relatinship. Crowley had Mars in Sagittartius, Levi had it in Pisces. We can't compare angular planets, because we have no birth time for Levi. Crowley has 7 fairly close aspects in his chart and Levi had 8, yet there is not a single one of these that involves the same planet pairs (unless Levi was born around noon or early afternoon, in which case they would share a Moon-Pluto aspect, both sextiles; still, that would only be one out of seven or eight).
So - there is no significant replication of chart factors.
We can compare their charts, to see if there are interchanges - as in synastry - thought this would onlyt really show things like Crowley's likely reactions to Levi, which wouldn't tell us anything definitive. However, if we limit our orb to 1°, we can read it as Crowley's birth representing transits for an event in Levi's life. ("In his life" is the key phrase, though, I think. Anyway...) Here are the resulting partile transits to Levi's chart at the time Crowley was born:
t. Pluto sq. r. Sun (but only if Levi was born very late in the day; odds are against him having been born late enough for this to be in orb)
t. Venus semi-square r. Neptune
t. Mercury sq. r. VenusThat's it. Not much. Hardly identity defining. Hardly marking a significant event for Levi (unless he just happened to be born late enough for that important Pluto transit to be in effect). Quite sufficient, though, for Crowley to be totally captivated by him.
For comparison: Levi died May 31, 1875 (four and a half months before Crowley was born). Now - just to test the chart - this was quite a significant day in Levi's chart. For one, that t. Pluto sq. r. Sun was partile, quite appropriate for a decisive life-transition. T. Jupiter opposed r. Jupiter (a cycle point; and Jupiter transits are routine for death). T. Sun opposed r. Neptune (common for "fading, weakening; increased vulnerability" - though I don't know the cause of death). These are quite reasonable transits.
But how did this "last transition chart" (Levi's death chart) relate to Crowley's natal horoscope four and a half months later? Certain factors shouldn't be given any weight (e.g., outer planets being in about the same place, Mars being in the same sign where it had a major retrogradation stay that year) - these are just part of the routine math. Excuding those... there's really no connection at all.
In this - one of the most certain examples we have - there is no chart continuity.

Another case came to me in the last week - someone with a known birth time who has been having memories of someone in the past, also with a findable birth time, including many seemingly confirmatory memories about locations and other things (can't go into it without disclosing identities).
The Sun and Moon between the two charts have no overlap. (The Suns are in opposite signs. The Moon has the same basic planetary rulership. This is probably stretching a bit.) There is an overlap of one important angular planet (on the Midheaven of one chart and the Zenith of the other), and the Moon is about the same distance off the same angle in both charts: each then had a couple of other angular planets with no duplication across the charts.
The current chart has 7 close planetary aspects; the earlier chart has 10. Only one of these overlapped, a minor aspect between two outer (slow-moving) planets.
Taking the current chart as transits to the older chart, we find... nothing. No partile aspects at all.

"I think you have to be very very careful about this sort of investigation. When it comes to people from history that are famous and thus may have thousands of souls directing energy at their name at any one time, then its so easy to tap in and because the energy is being pumped up then it feels so right. I've done this sort of thing with all the names of history, and its extremely easy to 'feel it' and 'be there' and then say "I must have been that person", after you have looked through their eyes. "
I agree.
Past life regression using hypnotherapy is a good choice.

I have not gone that deep into Astrology.
In my limited understanding I very well may have misunderstood something.
I also have a tendency to reverse things o.OThe jist of what I am getting is that this is a dead end?
Astrology being a weak point of mine, I thought to start here work my way to other possible methods of exploration.
