Geomantic Intelligences and Archangels
-
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
I am in the process of making myself a study guide for the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. My sources for this project are 776 1/2, 777, Liber Thoth, Konx Om Pax, Sepher Yetzirah, Godwin's Qabalistic Encyclopedia, and Liber Theta, the last being one of the free publications provided by Mr. Eshelman and the Temple of Thelema (you can download it here if you haven't already).
While this has proven to be quite an undertaking, I didn't really hit a snag until I got to heh.
I noticed that Godwin's lists an Archangel with each constellation of the Zodiac. I looked through 777 and didn't find any tables with these names except for the ones under "Geomantic Intelligences" towards the end of the tables. Curious, I opened 776 1/2 to find that Mr. Eshelman seems to be following a similar logic to Godwin by listing what Crowley deemed as Geomantic Intelligences as the "Archangels of Assiah."
Is there any difference a Geomantic Intelligence and an Archangel? What inspired the change of categorization in 776 1/2 and Godwin's? Is it because the Archangels are "of Assiah" that there are sympathies here with the Element of Earth?
Any answers to the above questions and/or any further elaboration on this topic will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

The archangels of the 12 zodiacal constellations are used in geomancy as "intelligences" of the figures corresponding to the signs.
They are simply the archangels of the signs AND are used as ruling powers in geomancy (not to be confused with the Yetziratic beings called Intelligences of the 7 planets).

Thank you!
Does something similar apply to the Rulers of the Elements? They can simply be called upon as Rulers in any Elemental work AND as Archangels in pathworking?
And the planets: the Archangels of the planetary Sephiroth are used as well for the double letters simply because of their sympathetic planetary correspondences?

The Rulers of the Elements are Yetziratic, not Briatic. And besides, you already know the Archangels of the Elements.
"And the planets: the Archangels of the planetary Sephiroth are used as well for the double letters simply because of their sympathetic planetary correspondences?"
Yes. They are specifically the planetary archangels, who double for the sephiroth.
All this is worked out in minute detail in 776 1/2, especially broken down by world's.

Jeez, ya'd think I'd never done a LBRP before!
Either way, thanks for the prompt replay, and the distinction you made here between the Yetziratic Elemental Rulers and the Briatic Elemental Archangels. I will be studying 776 1/2 more closely in this regard.
Thanks again!
