planetary rites

There are rites to harmonize planetary energies and the elements within oneself. Do these rites really work? I am asking because I am interested from an astrological perspective to find out if such rites the somehow alter, for the better, the planetary manifestations in one's birth chart.
I'd be grateful if only those with experience answer this post.... Thank you
