Col 601-603 of 776.5 list him as the Qlippoth of Hod.

This seems at odds with his role in rabbinical literature, where he is identified as the angel of death. His name means either "venom of god" (rabbinical) or "blind god" (Xian gnostic). While his ambiguous nature places him in the same category as mercury, I've never seen him as a corrupt or evil entity.

Is there a rationale for calling him the deceiver or false accuser?

There are vast references across the ages - my best references are at home - but deceiver and destroyer are typical attributes, while he is more broadly treated as just one more name for The Devil (the Capital-D Dude).

SM-, which you translated "venom," means various poisons, narcotics (i.e., sleep inducers), and other drugs. "God's Drug" is probably the best translation IMO.

He also appears in many places confused with Zamael and Kamael, so he appears as a Mars-like destructive, demeaning, hurtful force.

we must remember all forces are sent by the Creator, whether good or bad. When we embark upon holy pursuits, God as if sends accusers (opposing thoughts to the path of righteousness) to test the person in their loyalty to the Creator. It is by overcoming these opposing thoughts that one advances higher on the ladder of spirituality. The accuser will say: what do you benefit in all this? who is this Creator you follow? and such and is basically fulfilling a role set forth by the Upper to keep you aimed correctly. The key is in knowning they are sent from above to aid us and not to derail us...
