Invisibility or Iimmunity
-
I am interested right now in Invisibility in a specific sense - I read a bit of the discussion on here about invisibility on another thread and it talked about invisibility like, you know... If you are walking past people and don't want to be bothered how you can ensure that you won't be bothered. But I am interested in invisibility in another sense and maybe an older sense which I have seen used a few times - invisibility as a type of Immunity; if I am invisible the rules, social rules generally, which apply to other people do not apply to me for I am invisible. I am the exception. I've always experienced a bit of this personally, and I think perhaps this is part of the positions I've been in in my life, where the rules that apply to everyone else can't apply to me - I have been the poor kid in the rich kids school, the catholic in the protestant school, the lesbian in the girls locker room, heh heh heh... So I am always the exception in this way. And maybe I have developed magical invisibility in this way as a response to being put in these situations, you know... I have learned how to slip into the cracks. I think all poor kids have this, really, and lesbians, and irish catholics.
So I am curious about this kind of invisibility/immunity/exceptionalism. Not so much How Do I Cultivate It Magically, I have seen plenty of invisibility spells & plenty of goetic demons are said to grant the gift of invisibility, & so on. But just wanting to talk about, see if anythings been written about it... From reading around on this forum I gather the images of invisibility are the Fox, Jupiter, & I feel perhaps the Trickster archetype (Loki, the Rogue/Rascal, pirate-coward/Jack Rackamm/Jack Sparrow, etc)
thanks,
Laura. -

thanks,
Laura."The first archetype that comes to my mind is Harpocrates and his sign of Silence.
There's also Bardon's technique which is similar, you visualise an "akasha" kind of egg and "adjust" light according to environement.
The idea is firstly to create some kind of "hiatus" in the time-space, whatever the plane you wanna act unto. So symbolically there's also this Harpocrates thing.
I think also about the Cameleon. There is the so called path of the Cameleon.
And rythm. if you follow one's rythm, you will be not percieved by him. Thus you may appear invisible to him. So can be said to a specific plane or situation.
And if so can be said it means in all those situations one can be "exceptional" without any problem as there is no resistance. Also there is a need of an exception in any system.
Some ideas.

In an image, for meditation I s'pose: ageoflucidity.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/crowley-thoth-tarot-scans-prince-of-cups.jpg?w=552
I have shared many thoughts and experiences that you expressed, Laura, insofar as observing in myself growing up the innate ability to slip through the cracks in most if not all situations(physical, spiritual, psychological, so on). I think Frater Horus got across many of the keys of the practice, especially that of rhythm, though I want to stress the necessity of simply tuning the intuition to flow through the undercurrent present(many average folk are not even aware of such a chthonic level of things so often you are the only one behaving with it in mind--opens up a whole new array of action potentialities) in any energetic space(like groups of people) and act/non-act from that vantage. Call it surfing the ever-present Briah if you'd like, silently mantling the situation. Sometimes one may run into competition
Try making a necklace of some sort to your chosen godform, something with a weight and sway to it.

(Afterthought: slipping through the cracks spiritually, as many are likely aware, also, quite simply, just takes a lot of mushrooms and a silly imagination. Funny you mention Loki, there was this one time.....)

Harpocrates first, ask questions later...
Gotta establish the circle before you know what is "outside" of it.
Remember that invisibility is a fascination. Mercury is tricks.

"4. Works of fascination, such as operations of invisibility, and transformations of the apparent form of the person or thing concerned. This consists almost altogether in distracting the attention, or disturbing the judgment, of the person whom it is wished to deceive. There are, however, "real" transformations of the adept himself which are very useful. See the Book of the Dead for methods. The assumption of God-Forms can be carried to the point of actual transformation. "

Use whatever you have at your disposal.
What Crowley writes here, I've found to be like my own experience. Fascination, through and through...people see what they want to see...

"About invisibility, now? Of this I have so much experience that the merest outline could take us far beyond the limits of a letter. In Mexico D.F., I worked at acquiring the power by means of ritual. I worked desperately hard. I got to the point where my image in a pier-glass flickered, rather like the very earliest films did. Possibly more work, after more skill had come to me, might have done the whole trick. But I did not persist when I found out how to do it by fascination. (Here we are at last!)
Roughly, this is how to do it. If one is concentrated to the point when what you are thinking of is the only reality in the Universe, when you lose all awareness of who and where you are and what you are doing, it seems as though that unconsciousness were in some way contagious. The people around you just can't see anybody.
At one time, in Sicily, this happened nearly every day. Our party, strolling down to our bathing bayβthe loveliest spot of its kind that I have ever seenβover a hillside where there wasn't cover for a rabbit, would lose sight of me, look, and fail to find me, though I was walking in their midst. At first, astonishment, bewilderment; at last, so normal had it become: "He's invisible again.""
