January 19 (Heru-Ra-Ha) Liber L., Cap. III, v. 23-24
-
**23. For perfume mix meal & honey & thick leavings of red wine: then oil of Abramelin and olive oil, and afterward soften & smooth down with rich fresh blood.
24. The best blood is of the moon, monthly: then the fresh blood of a child, or dropping from the host of heaven: then of enemies; then of the priest or of the worshippers: last of some beast, no matter what.

I take this as mostly literal - though "...the fresh blood of a child, or dropping from the host of heaven.." introduces some interesting problems with that when taken literally. The references to blood and droppings essentially point out to me that our own life force is required to be made part of the recipe here. In theory, I'd say that is generic enough to really go with anything, but I think is an underlying principal of the beginning of the recipe given.
