**I take this as mostly literal - though "...the fresh blood of a child, or dropping from the host of heaven.." introduces some interesting problems with that when taken literally. The references to blood and droppings essentially point out to me that our own life force is required to be made part of the recipe here. In theory, I'd say that is generic enough to really go with anything, but I think is an underlying principal of the beginning of the recipe given.
