Can someone explain basically why swords couldn't be earth, esp. as they include primarily earth minerals/metal?

The problem is, this is the exact opposite of what is occurring. Small businesses and restaurants are shuttering. Whole downtown areas are being boarded up, and the only ones surviving are the greedy anti-individualistic large corporations such as Amazon, Walmart, CostCo etc. . . it's terrible. All business needs to open now, with safety precautions in place. Or even without, it should be personal choice and thus the consumer also should have the personal choice to tenant that 'unsafe/safe' business or not.

I dont know hwen I will be able to pick up a copy of your book though I definitely plan on it.
So can I assume the solar timing is similar, just based on position in the sky although the date will be accurate since we are using a solar calendar?

I had the idea to do some lunar rituals altho astral due to communal living so to speak, during the new or full moon.
My question therefore is, if the calendar says the new moon is on the 15th for example, do you do the ritual on midnight of the night of 14th (ie you do it the night of the fourteenth) or would it be midnight the night of the 15th?
What is more astronomically and energetically accurate and useful?

For what it's worth, I have had the same problem
If it helps, I found personally that the more I did ritual (or whatever) even if you have to force yourself at first over the slow parts, then the more I wanted to do it. Its like setting up a pattern in your brain and you start to look forward to it so you want to do it simply because you have been doing it. Eventually the wanting to over comes the 'having to'

Thank you for answering my questions everyone. I definitely want to get this now. It is just a question of when. I have a lot of obligations that I promised people I'd get since they have them in hold for me. But I will definitely read it and love it. As long as they don't sell out in the next few months!

I was wondering, if one already has Vision and the Voice and other papers by weiser, do you think your book adds a lot of new information? I love your Magical and Mystical System book and I know you write well and I will enjoy it if I buy it, but I was curious as to the finer points of what your book includes that others don't so I am assured that I am not repeating my library. I am sorry to sound picky but I have to budget a lot more these days than I used to, since I am trying to save for some travelling for the first time in 4 years.

I was wondering about this sort of thing recently.
Would you consider someone who is still in a Student phase and only doing basic banishings and meditations and only one or two invocations to do a working for a servitor or servant spirit?
If it IS fine, when you do that kind of work is the spirit ever visible phsyically, like as waves in smoke or other natural environmental manifestations say, or is it almost always just in your minds eye?
How about if one is not quite perfected in their astral sight , is it worth giving it a go?
And is it the kind of entity you can just keep around you and dont have to banish after each in/e/vocation?

I don't want to sound aggressive, but for the chap who said "Thelema is doctrine" you are not understanding it very well in my opinion. Re-read liber AL and maybe you will understand. It says in paraphrase 'convert not, argue and talk over not' because doctrine is a waste of time. it is one of the most anti doctrinal and anti dogmatic books out there.

Oh and when i vibrate the names I see the circle and pentagram of each quarter sort of vibrate or pulse.

In my opinion they are the same thing. Intent = imagination = part of the astral = magick.
The mind influences the astral and therefore since our thoughts have power our minds eye is astral vision.
Some are more accurate than others due to purposefully cleaning their ajna chakra.
In my opinion merely doing ritual and meditation enough if you are applying yourself stringently will open your third eye enough so your astral vision is accurate.

When I do the LBRP i see bright white or orange light that appears like flames, small bright ones. And I see the angels floating there but not in detail. I think this is because my sight is not honed. I am only a novice at magick
But a pretty spiritually practised novice

If I may hazard a probably unwarranted opinion a visible circle is of no necessity unless you are having trouble visualising one in your minds eye. because all magick begins on the astral in your minds eye to begin with, the visual addition of a material circle is only for you if you really need the reminder.
Just a thought.

I just had a thought because of the last post that if you thought Crowley said magick for 'personal gain' or material gain is Black then Crowley is a black brother too.

He admitted and even kept and shared a magical record countless times of doing a magical working for nothing more than gold, and money.

He was broke so he would do workings just to get money.

I guess by his standards then he was a black brother.
what do you guys think?
that is only if you put the words in his mouth that material gain is evil.

I have been giving it some thought and you both seem right.
The work from getting all the oils and doing it the 'right way' would be good for me, and also this personal consecration is speaking to me strongly yet. Specifically the blood one for some reason, and as this is my first real wand that i have made from scratch, I will do it both ways.
First personally and then when I get the oils I will do it the proper way.
This will allow me to get the benefit of being able to do some work with it and also to get the discipline it takes to get all of the ingredients and make the oil.
How does that sound?

I had a quick question about consecration.
If one does not have the oil of Abramelin or any of the ingredients for such, and it is intent which is more important than material objects ( I think)
would consecrating with blood, or other bodily fluids be acceptable in the stead of oil?
Any pros or cons?
Would like to get Working as soon as possible so thought I would ask.

These are two things that happened to me the first in the realm of the real and dream both, and the second from what I could certainly tell, from dream, but they both seem like real intrusions of intelligence not of my own. So I thought I would share them and hopefully someone can reply based on their experiences and opinion what they think is happening.

1. 8/9/10
   The last week I have been meditating, and as a new feature I have been reaching out to anything Other, just trying not to label it and saying if anyone is out there I would like to and like some help evolving spiritually mentally etc and would like some experiences to help me grow if you could initiate contact.
   The mediation in the light of day felt fine and I got images of grey faces looking inquisitive and also the sense of a ship hovering over the planet honing in on my position. I felt a sense of annoyance as if they had better things to do. But this may all be imaginings?
   Then that night I repeated the experiment lying down but I felt terrified.
   The sense of otherness was something I thought I could handle, being into spiritual matters and magical practices, but boy does our biological casing not like anything unfamiliar!
   I had no physical experience, but a sense of a terrifying otherness just outside the house was palpable and I had a hard time stopping my heart and breath from going on hyperdrive.
   The other thing that seems similar but may not be is around the exact same day I had a dream that a teacher was conducting a ritual dance to entrap her students and sacrifice them and a hideous sense of malevolence. Upon waking due to the fear where in the dream I was frozen like a deer, I see in real life in the dark of the hallway a flittery shadowy shape. It looks like animated shadows, that are very light and fluttery. It seems to jump on to the railing of the hallway balcony, and I hear what sounds like a cats meow but my cat is shut in another part of the house. It sounded like a machine emulating a cat. Like a meow filtered through metallic somethings. Then It seemed to jump off the railing and flutter into the larger shadow.
   I got the sense that some entity was feeding off the fear of my dream.
   Any comments?
   The two contacts may be unrelated..

2. 8/22/10
   I'm not sure where this belongs but i had another encounter with the entity that seemingly feeds off my fear energy through dreams. At least this is the medium where I always first encounter it, though the first time I saw it in the real hallway too.
   This time I had a dream that I was trying to capture a ghost in a lightbulb. Somehow the conductivity would be able to store it like a genie in a bottle. This failed and in the dream I went from the dreary stone room into an adjacent one to go to sleep. In the dream I woke up because I heard a sound and I looked toward the door. A white blur like a cat somehow squeezed under the door and came rushing at me. I thought it was my cat in the dream (although she is black mostly, not white , in real life) so I let her come by the bed which like reality was on the floor literally like a mat. Then there came from the 'cat' a extremely creepy growling sound the likes I haven't heard ever but the closest I can come to describing it is like a cat growls low when they are scared but a bit more rough with a dog-like grind to it. This scared the crap out of me in the dream, like I am sure it was supposed to, and then as if reading my mind, this entity stopped trying to trick me and although my back was towards it and I was starting to become frozen with fear, I got the mental impression that it had switched itself to the image of a grey (alien/visitor)to scare me more. Or perhaps thats what it was. At any rate it kept growling and I was frozen with fear. I eventually unlike the first 'dream' overcame the fear and was able to start rolling over to get a good look at it. Before I could see it however I woke up as if the entity did it to prolong it's mystery.
   I still had the feeling in real life on awaking of a prescence so I stared at the wall in fear not wanting to roll over and look. Eventually after a few minutes passed I got up the gumption and did but there was nothing there, unlike the first time, but probably/maybe because I was slow. When I looked at the clock the entity had come almost at 4am on the dot. Just like the first time.
   Thought i'd share it because the greys or something at least seems to have gotten my summons for contact because I have never had entity intrusions into my astral space like this until I did that. What I am dismayed about or perhaps not understanding is that while this seems negative to me as I had requested contact only if it was for the betterment of my positive spiritual and mental evolution.
   Anyone? sure was creepy again....
   I haven't done any magick ritual for awhile (due to moving), but there were a few times in the past where i stupidly stepped out of my circle after invoking and also went all night without closing it. So it is possible although that was a month or two ago that something travelled through that...shrug..

yeah in hindsight it was a very stupid thing to do.
and i have done it a few times the past month.
so i think its a combination of that (probably at least in a tiny amnt there could be some little energy bits clinging to me)
and also the sexual thing is true. i am generally celibate.
but recently i was doing some VIII workings
and on top of that it is very hot and im working more
so i think its all of the above.
but the magical thing i didnt want to make any mistakes o if people think thats a bad idea that was mainly what i was worried about from a safety standpoint too.
if anyone has any ideas or comments too please feel free to post here
