Yes! That actuall comes from Egypt... The sun being a reflection of the metaphysical Sun (Ra).

Chicken Qabalah -
KlipahThose tapes tapes are from Kabbalah.com. The rest of what the rabbi says, although not anything I have ever heard of before, seems to make a lot of sense.
I have been having a lot of wierd synchronicitous stuff happening that seems to center around the Kabbalah. I viewed 4 of the 6 tapes straight through (about 3.5 hours) and when I shut off the VCR, Fiddler on the Roof happened to be the movie playing on the TV...
There is another really good traditional Jewish site, Aish.com that has a Kabbalah section. You can also leave messages at the wall there, and there is a wall cam.

KlipahI have been watching a beginners series on the Kabbalah (I believe the exact form is traditional, practical Kabbalah). The rabbi that is teaching the lessons explains the Klipah as shells (same as our modern Qabalah). That is where the similarity seems to end.
He goes on to explain that these shells surround you like a false aura, or an egg shell, and stop divine light from reaching us. I have never heard of any such thing in our modern Qabalah. Is there something I am missing, some hidden correlation?

Astrology manual@Jim Eshelman said
"Yes, but that liber isn't about astrology."
What? Really? I have a book by the same title that is an astrology book. Maybe this text is different but has the same title... I'll have to take a look at it, I didn't open the file or anything. Wierd!

Astrology manualI found an e-text version of this book here:
www.rahoorkhuit.net/library/libers/lib_0536.html
The actual title of the book is: BATRACHOPHRENOBOCOSMOMACHIA.
It is in Class B.
Almost any other Liber you could want can be found here:
www.rahoorkhuit.net/library/start.html
Good luck!
(I wasn't kidding about the name, eh? )

thelema & christianityProverbs is an excellent place to start for hermetic thought in the bible. Song of Solomon/Canticles as also excellent, but hard to understand. All of the ancient mediterrenian religions have tremendous cross-over, and many of them even shared scripture (the book of enoch, and a lot of what was attributed to Hermes Trismagistus, for example, were studied by both christers and jews).
The first five books of the old testament can be traced back to Assyrian and Babalonian religion, while the Psalms were origionaly written inside the tombs of KMT. Some of the Psalms (alternate translations, but definitely the same chapters in Psalms) were even found in Tibetan Lamasaries!
Thelema is actualy a first cousin of Christianity (the origional Thelema was Threskia, a Greek mystery religion), so I wouldn't worry about sucking their scriptures dry for any enlightening info you can get from them! In fact, don't stop there! Raid the holy writ of the Hindu, and Taoist as well! Don't let other peoples biases (or even your own!) hold you back! Such is the illusion of duality (all religions are in fact ONE). Sin = Restriction!

Liber Arcanorum and the Tunnels of SetThis was supposedly done by an independant adept... They had undergone the origional ritual within the framework of the OTO, and later wanted to be free from the solar/phallic influence of the OTO, and as a result re-did the initiation to keep Osiris Slain.
-
Mass of the PhoenixPhew! Thank you!
-
Liber Arcanorum and the Tunnels of SetThanks! I have one more question that (in my mind) relates to this... During one of the initiations (5*=6*?) you are raised as Osiris Risen... But what if you change this and use Set Triumphant instead?
-
Black MagickNo, we WANT you to cover it up.
-
Mass of the PhoenixA friend. She might have been joking, it's hard to tell with her sometimes...
-
Liber Arcanorum and the Tunnels of SetHow and when should one go about learning about and dealing with the Klipphoth? Is there any connection between Da'ath and the Klipphoth?
-
Mass of the PhoenixI heard that sperm is used in abremelen oil, which also goes into the recipe for the cakes of light. Is this true? I find this slightly disgusting if true, and I'm wondering if there are any alternate recipes. Thanks.

Astrology manualCrowley wrote one. It has a really rediculous name that I can't remember (let alone pronounce). It's something like "Batchochunkolunkoria" or something equally rediculous. It's greek, and although the book is supposedly a serious work, the name is apparently a satire of someone elses work. Sorry, I have no further details on this, but I have seen it in print.
You might also want to check out Planets in Transit (there are 2 other books in this series that I also can't remember the names of dealing with houses and signs). These are typicly what professional astrologers use.
I would also recommend some of the Rosecrucian books on the subject from AMORC or Rosecrucian Fellowship.

Black MagickI realise that I am a newbie, and generally don't know my head from a hole in the ground, so be well advised and take what I have to say with a chunk of rock salt. For what it's worth, here is my opinion (and please correct me if I am wrong):
In at least some mystery religions, and definitely in Christianity and some of the Gnostic sects, the first initiation is given BEFORE the postulant actually deserves it. In Christianity, for example, the 'sinner' is forgiven of all past sins in good faith that they will strive not to sin again. This is impossable, and absurd, since they lack the discipline at such an early stage to abstain from their previous habbits, and now since they have a whole list of what NOT to do, they are tempted twice as bad as before. (Doesn't Liber Al say something to the effect that the word of sin is restriction?)
I see no reason why Thelema would be any different. Of coarse you are going to practice black magic during the initial stages and early degrees, and if my intuition is correct, I would say probably right on up through the higher degrees. In fact, I am tempted to walk out on a limb and say that the temptation to knowingly perform black magic at higher degrees is probably exponentialy greater(as well as the potential damage), than say a mere neophyte or zelator that has fewer doors of opportunity open to her/him.

LBRPHey, that's awesome. I really like that. I am still new to the Kabbalah, so it will probably be a while before I understand completely. Thanks for your help with the angels and their associations.

Frater56I have been here a couple days now, and realised... I never introduced myself! So here I am.
I am very interested in the Klipphoth, the Tunnels of Set, and the Typhonian OTO (as well as its spin-offs). I like reading H.P. Lovecraft, I run SETI software (and have a SETI team, but sadly, I am the only member).
I am currently only 0*=0*, but I really enjoy being where I am (as apposed to wanting to rush onto the next grade too soon). I am an avid reader, and am currently reading all the Libers I can, as well as any Thelemic, GD, RC, and related material I can get my hands on.
I love good advice, and will not take it as an insult if those more experienced than I am are willing to give me advice or constructive criticism.
Feel free to PM me about anything.

LBRPI'm curious about this for my own personal reasons, beyond use in ritual. I'm curious about the origional GD, and the forms they would have used.

LBRPIs there a place on the net that has actual pictures of the four angels in LBRP?
