If you want to know what mastery is then go to this link and read the section on Asana. As I understand it, asana must be mastered before we go deep into pranayama.

I believe I attained a "fair mastery" of Asana, the longest I have stayed in Asana is 50 minutes with hardly any discomfort, the same length of time I practice Pranayama. When I am in Asana, I have a light body feeling and its really comfortable up until the 40 minute mark and mild discomfort sets in, I am not sure why this occurs. Thank you for the link, I will be sure to study it thoroughly.
