"I added the link for Oprah...because I thought the topic "A new earth" was pertinant to the current discussion "what does..."Do what thou wilt" mean? and how to assimilate this will into our daily living.
I would have rather just put individual videos on my site but I am so far having a difficult time doing that, so instead I put the link.
It is my intention to show sinkrinisities between the Thelemic belief sysem and some similar others...
I have found that even when the lanuage and basic thoeology may be different there are some things that are very much the same...
truth is truth
sorry if it seemed out of place..I will add somthing to the site to clear it up"
The word 'sinkrinisities' is the worst botching of 'synchronicities' that I have ever seen.
That being said, Oprah is not always the most resonant with Thelema... Eckhart Tolle is simply restating the same Buddhist 'ego' business over and over anyhow. Honestly, we could find connections between Tom Clancy and Thelema but is that even worth our time? This topic could potentially be a great springboard for discussion on the similarities and differences between Tolle's view and Thelema's but this is impossible since (a) many have not read Tolle's work and (b) many people are not comfortable enough with Thelema to make comparisons with other traditions, let alone explain it coherently. It would be much more efficient and simple to simply have the discussion topic of what does Do what thou wilt mean to you instead of bringing in this new wave of New Age Self-help stuff (including Tolle, Oprah, Chopra, etc etc)
I went to the first so-called class and people left before the class topic was even mentioned. People spent all their time introducing themselves and no one even mentioned the word 'Thelema.' It was extremely disorganized and highly disappointing. Not only this, but when I asked frzzlmom why she didn't even bother to bring up the chat topic and many other questions, she got overly upset and constantly accused me of 'chewing her out,' being highly immature and never even answering simply questions like "why are you not starting the actual class discussion?" Her reaction to my honest questions about the failure of her class furthered my distaste for this idea.
I find forums a much better means of communication anyhow since anyone can always go back and look at an older post, and the logs are saved online automatically. Further, it allows people to take turns and form coherent arguments whereas in chatrooms (which this class was set in) do not allow for even a small amount of order.
