The Emperor Sun or Son
-
A question about the esoteric name of The Emperor.
776.5 & Liber Theta give it as "Sun of the Morning, Chief Among the Mighty"
The Golden Dawn give it as "SON of the Morning"
Has it changed or is this a typo?
Also, isn't 'Son of the Morning' a reference to Venus as the Morning Star?
-
I'm away from my references for awhile. What does 777 say?
And from what GD source are you finding the alternative?
-
My copy of Book T still says, "Sun of the Morning, chief among the Mighty"
-
Ah, but the copy in The Golden Dawn (Israel Regardie, Llewellyn's Golden Dawn Series, 6th Edition, twelfth printing, 2005) has "Son of the Morning, chief among the Mighty."
-
777 has "Sun of the Morning".
I guess that's it, then. Unless that's a typo.

I have the eighth printing. it does say "sixth corrected edition, though."

Trust 777 on that one.
I'll check earlier editions of GD when I get the chance. I do know that when Llewellyn had Chris Monnastre reedit the original book, there were naturally a lot of typos that got in.
Check Equinox for the original Book T also (Liber 78). It's in Equinox 8.

Equinox 8 has "Sun of the Morning". it looks like the typo is in GD 6th edition.
