I was writing footnotes for "The Treasure-House of Images" and came across this meaning and definition:

"Evoe (pronounced “eh-vuh”) is an exclamation of Bacchic frenzy."

I don't think the pagan Greeks would compare Evoe to IHVH.

I don't think they would have either. But I'm pretty sure that it evolved from it.
