Self healing
-
Are there any good rituals for the beginner on how to heal one self or at least become more resistant to disease or even cure something that has already broken out? What are the best ways in general (including methods for people with high magickal skills)?
-
I don't have any magical suggestions, and I hope this doesn't come out sounding snarky, but...
Get plenty of sleep and eat well.
Actually, I suppose that counts as a magical suggestion. After all, shouldn't the Wo/Man of Earth get those most material parts of their lives in order? Anyway...
-
Well thanks, but I was looking for rituals specifically.
-
Sorry. I guess that was snarky.
-
Not snarky IMHO. I hold (and teach) that a basic principal of magick in most cases is not to use distinctly (ceremonial etc.) magical means until all reasonable conventional means have been exhausted - or at least set in motion.
I was just going to suggest taking Airborne.
It's the old principle that if you see a child drowning in a pond, and you are a strong swimmer, and no life guard is around, stopping to banish to that you can evoke the Undines to lend assistance probably isn't the most productive or effective magical step that can be taken at the moment.
-
Of course you're right, but what if it is something I really would need from magic to do?
-
This is a subject I can really relate too since I have had a chronic health condition for many years and have tried many conventional means for relief. Lately, things have been a bit better since discovering one particular protocol of Modern Chinese Medicine but still my health is not what I would like. It leaves me at times sorely lacking in energy for Spirtitual pursuits, or maybe there are lessons my HGA is trying to impart?

I don't know of anything of the sort that is available to the general public - unless you include the variuos psychic healing modalities as "magick" (and I don't know why you shouldn't).
One of the bes things for overall astral, physical, and psychological vitality, and maintaining the system in fair balance, is regular performance of the Middle Pillar ritual.
Temple of Thelema initiates at all locations do monthly healing work for anyone at all who requests it. This uses techniques only available to initiated members and is part of the group ritual work. (There are other techniques taught to Second Order members for doing more specific and targetted healing work when necessary.) Any of you are welcome to ask to be added to the list of those receiving this healing.

Ah, excellent. TMP is what I'm presently studying anyway.
And thanks for the opportunity as well! And I also have another question concerning health in magick. Lévi stated that one shouldn't do magick if one isn't "pure" for some definition of purity. I interpreted as meaning being physically balanced. So would being partly paralyzed or something like that be a problem e.g.?
I myself have a genetic dysfunction on one hand, and - seeing as I don't know the deeper meanings of the symbolism yet - it seems from the maps of the body as a copy of the macrocosm that it is meaningful to have a "correct" body. I'm referring to Lévi's descriptions that the thumb is connected to * etc. Will magick therefore be a bad idea for me? -
No.
"Pure," btw, means "singular, unmixed" in magick. "Pure milk" isn't morally wholesome milk, it's "milk and nothing else."

Hey Guys,
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
Man this list is really getting down to business of late!
Anyway, given the rather strenuous lifestyle I (and so many others) live,
I'd have to say that actions as simple and largely ignored (especially out here in car culture land) as walking regularly are so important. I try to do a least three long and almost taxing walks a week. My diet is more zen like in that the methodology is almost nil, but I take into account as much varied knowledge as I can. In a nutshell, sasha's comment was the opposite of snarky, well IMHO!To paraphrase, I think, Hyatt, too many so-called magicians are on the bag-o-chips per day couch diet!
Anyway, I've been really getting down with the Thelemic LBRP, a consistent
asana, some project such as the recently completed Trump meditation, a self-constructed strength/power/illumination meditation, and then the LBRP at least three days/week (though I shoot for at least six when my schedule avails itself) and that seems to be doing the trick. Gotta tell you though, when I first did my personal ritual alluded to above and then jumped on the bus a short while later, I felt full to bursting with energy centered in the chest area and had to repeatedly remind myself that I know the symptoms of a heart attack these aren't it, lol.I feel great! And this is given two all nighters per week.
That said, my weakness is inconsistent and often low quality sleep, and feel that it could be the single most important aspect of overall health.
Anyway, just wanted to chime in!
Love is the law, love under will.

That is exactly what I would have expected for the the Fama Fraternitatis when speaking of the Rosicrucians explicitly states, "That none of them should profess any other thing than to cure the sick, and that gratis".
I know in the past I've availed myself of these services from another Rosicrucian Fraternity with great benefit. -

I become very introspective, my thoughts are much more condensed and I feel very "heavy". These are positive things, but one negative seems to be that my sleeping habits change tremendously. I never seem to sleep; almost as if I am lucid-dreaming or something. All night I am only shallowly unconscious, and my thoughts (or whatever they are) revolve around resolving certain philosophical/occult problems, personal mostly. In other words, my mind is totally and completely always thinking about Magick--all through the night. Is it possible that due to the rhythm of my rituals my brain is going out of its way to process them and meditations...or am I just going bonkers?

Hello
There are rituals for self healing. I am so glad you asked. The first ritual I do everyday is called 8 by 8 Qi gong. It is a series of movements on the body that help you to build the kidneys, tonify the stomach, speak well, see well, fortify youth and hear well. I would be happy to write them down for you if you would like, just please email me. They are a general practice and good for almost everyone.
Also, the subconsciousness is the builder of the body, so whatever you can do to influence her in a healthy way is helpful.
Step 1 is intention
Step 2 is showing her that you are serious about being healthy, so everyday practices and exclusion of poisons and inclusions of nice organic foods and lots of water.
Step 3 Thought watching, every cell in your body listens to what you have to say about your health. So even when you feel poorly you should not think "I fell like crap" think "I am going to get better, I am going to heal and never be this sick again". Anything along those lines, make it original, of course. -
Yes, thank you very much for those tips!
