Astrology manual

It seems I need an astrology manual for my magick studies. Any ideas which ones are good anyone?

Crowley wrote one. It has a really rediculous name that I can't remember (let alone pronounce). It's something like "Batchochunkolunkoria" or something equally rediculous. It's greek, and although the book is supposedly a serious work, the name is apparently a satire of someone elses work. Sorry, I have no further details on this, but I have seen it in print.
You might also want to check out Planets in Transit (there are 2 other books in this series that I also can't remember the names of dealing with houses and signs). These are typicly what professional astrologers use.
I would also recommend some of the Rosecrucian books on the subject from AMORC or Rosecrucian Fellowship.

My assumption is that you want a beginning book?
Isabel Hickey's book is a classic. Astrology: A Cosmic Science. Amazon has it for about $11.75? You can get one used, also.
If you are beyond just the basics, there are other books.
Do you want Tropical (Aries is always the Spring Equinox) or Sidereal (the Zodiac sign which is in the sky right now during Spring)?Anyway, you should let JAE tell you about astrology, as he is very prominent, especailly with progressed charts.

They can call the astrology book by any number they want... but A.'.A.'. Liber DXXXVI is the Practicus instruction Liber Batrachophrenobookosmomachia, an instruction in expansion of the field of the mind.
(The confusion arises because Crowey listed a pending astrology work by the same number. He occasioanlly screwed up on the catalogue that way.)

What? Really? I have a book by the same title that is an astrology book. Maybe this text is different but has the same title... I'll have to take a look at it, I didn't open the file or anything. Wierd!

Thanks for all the help! I already had General Principles as it turned out, but I thought it was too advanced to mention the basic things I was after.

if you have a local occult or metaphysical bookstore, then i recommend starting with some simple books (there is a small series, one cover is blue, the other orange, i forget the 3rd cover color in the series) entitled something to the efffect of "everything you always wanted to know about astrology" everything from planetary meangings, zodiacal sign interpratations, apsects, constructing charts, and so on.
crowley's book (General Principles... Astrology) is excellent though his "theory of complexes" really IS tuff, i think... and, from what i have observed, most people don't even open the book -- just throw it up on the shelf like a hard-cover collectors book. NOT. an excellent text book, but i do agree it needs some preparation and a good intermediate knowledge of astrology before diving in.
last but not least, i might mention that i think "sidereal" method is the bomb -- but most of the books that you might do an amazon search for with that phrase are really technical/heady/math oriented and not explanatory for a beginner.
most metaphysical/occult bookstores have good "beginner" astrology classes...

make sure to puruse all the available OPTIONS and i recommend clicking on:
- free charts, then scroll down the list and click
- extended chart selection
- add a new person's data
- click here to show chart (natal or other wil appear)
i believe if you scout around on the site, you can click various options for interpretation sets which will help you learn the basics of interpretation, also, if you are working with your text books/study guides by your side
