When The Goetia Attacks!
-
N reportedly attempted "to draw a circle" to banish the demon, but the thing apparently screamed in her head enough for her to stop. I doubt either N or J are familiar with any banishing rituals. J is quite familiar with the banishing effect of laughter though, and all things considering, he's been using that tool quite effectively.

Drawing a circle doesn't banish demons - it protects magicians. Just tell N. to take up the LBRP or Star Ruby before attempting any more evocations...you shouldn't turn something on unless you either can turn it off or are prepared to deal with it.

Do as many of the following steps as are necessary.
STEP 1:
Banish. Banish. Banish.STEP 2:
Repeat Step 1.STEP 3:
Wait for the drugs to wear off.STEP 4:
See a skilled psychologist.STEP 5:
Continue Step 1.PS - If a talisman was made to control the spirit, use it to control the spirit. If the talisman was destroyed under the mistaken idea that it would break the link, then you're pretty screwed because that was the means of controlling the spirit - get a fucking good exorcist!
-
That reminds me, The Exorcist is another one for my top 20 (did anyone notice how Pazuzu resembles Levi's Baphomet?)
Botis is the 17th demon in the Goetia and his sigil is easily found online. Even if the original talisman was destroyed, couldn't that sigil be used to control and banish the demon?

"This Last week, J's house was broken into by one of N's friends and his life's work was stolen and thrown into the river. Then N attempted to attack J, hurt herself, the cops were called, and J was thrown into jail for a few days."
I can't add anything really but I'm curious what sort of "work" we are talking about and why was it thrown into a river...
Have you confirmed that N. actually summoned a Goetic spirit? Does she have previous knowledge of the Goetia or this is meant to be a strict "coincidence" of names?

"get a {shagging} good exorcist!"
...in other words, have a skilled magician banish for her.

Well, sorta but not really. The skills to do a full exorcism are quite different from even top notch banishing skills.

...I've never taken exorcisms seriously to tell you the truth - therapy seems to me to make the most sense...
...then again, I suppose we could always call Bob Larson

I'll try to do this, so she can actually figure out how to banish.

See a skilled psychologist."I can't remember where, but I remember reading something about how when approaching a problem that appears to have its cause in some occult phenomenon, it's a good idea to attack it on all planes, the most material and mundane explanations first. Kinda like in scooby-doo, I guess. Though I think the kids in that show usually go about it backwards. Anyway, J happens to be a psychology student, so he's probably looking into this.

She is very likely at least mildly familiar with Goetia, so I doubt the name is a coincidence.
What I wonder is whether it's possible to summon a Goetic spirit without having actually performed a formal evocation ceremony.
Thanks everyone.
