The Void

I astral projected last night.
I performed a ritual yesterday at sunrise with the intention to Astral Project that night.
All went well - except I found myself in the void.
I flew up through the roof of my house as usual - but then found myself in this infinite blackness. I flew through it and assumed it would pass. I accelerated and felt immense speed - but still just utter blackness.
I looked at my hands to ensure I wasnt "blind" - and when I held them up to my face I could see them clearly glowing, as the body of light does.
I tried willing myself to be elsewhere. I also used my will to ensure I had full clarity by shouting "Clarity Now" and "More Clarity".
In the end I shouted "Show me something interesting!!" - this worked in as much that I snapped back to my body.
I have read before of the void/blackness - but never experienced it until now. It wasnt frightening in any way - just very frustrating.
Anyone else found the void? And if so found a way "out"?

I experienced something similiar just the other night as a lucid dream. I became lucid and was going straight up, not of my own 'will', and all was pitch black - void is a perfect word for it. I tried to make a change but could not. Funny, I was going to make a post about it because it was an unusual experience, but didn't...wierd now that you did. I've been quite ill lately and I wondered if someone was trying to tell me I might be sicker than I thought...kinda sp00ky.

It sounds like what you experienced was just a reflection of boredom, that you had no content in your statement of intent, and this was reflected on the astral as a sort of dream space waiting to be filled.
I would contrast this with what I called the abyss, I may be wrong, a tracing of your own mind back to its source as a sort of medium, the waves in that medium are all things of awareness, all thoughts and perceptions. When you cancel every thought with its opposite, you reach than substance, but its still as a placid lake waiting to catch the reflection from above, and translate than into vibrations, the symbols of the aware mind.
Which sort of void would you say you experienced?

When projecting "up" (also called "rising on the planes"), many people encounter his darkness of which you speak. It is a band of utter darkness that surrounds Earth. For the uninitiated or the "normal" person, this band, being dark and lonely, is merely a "ring-pass-not" (to use the old Theosophical term) that encourages the traveler in dreams or conscious projection to turn around and get back to familiar things. It is a form of a planetary magickal circle, and protective device, intended to keep human consciousness within the earth realm.
On the other hand, the initiate or experienced "skryer" usually passes directly through this dark band and enters the starry ("that's what "astral" means) realm.
When guiding people through "rising on the planes," and they encounter this dark band, they are to be encouraged to keeping going. In some cases, they must be talked into projecting their consciousness out ahead of them, beyond this dark band and beyond the present location of their astral vehicle, and then to catch up with that mental image. Interestingly, this (almost) always works. Out of more than 100 people (mostly beginners), I have seen about 30% of them encounter this dark band, but have only known ONE who simply could not get past the barrier.This dark band should not be confused with the true VOID that is the goal of mystics. That VOID is nothing, but it is nothing simply because it is so high that no form exists because it is Pure Energy (accompanied by pure ecstasy).
The "dark band" surrounding earth is an artifact of the astral plane (Yesod). The VOID is beyond the Monad (Kether).
