Furthermore, the word "spirit" is misleading in its use there: It doesn't mean the same thing as the word "spirit" in Qabalistic magick. In the cases you cite, it means the living essence of human beings who have died. But that isn't at all what it means in the Goetia (for example), or in the Qabalistic hierarchies, etc.

BTW I should have mentioned earlier (didn't really notice the subject line of this thread closely)... but the name of the Order is not Astrum Argentum.

First of all, if the name were Latin (which it is not), then the correct Latin would be Argentium Astrum.
But the name is Greek, not Latin. It is: Astron Argon.

Doesn't it go both ways, Jim? I thought the original name was Agentium(Argentinum) Astrum, in Latin. At least that is what I see most common. Astron Argon I hadn't seen, until introduction to the Rovelli Lineage. Just asking, or maybe I read it wrong, and you're just correcting his mismatched usage....

Yes, most commonly stated - but wrong. I'm not aware of any instance of Crowley ever indicating any Latin title. OTOH there are three references (all unpublished IIRC) to the Greek.

Ah, you haven't read my book on the A.'.A.'. <vbg> - it's given, and discussed somewhat, in the Introduciton.

No, I have not read your book. Unfortunately I cannot afford it at the moment, but eventually I will. I still have the link you gave me to the Liber AL commentary(which I was just reading on this morning), and somewhere still have your Star Ruby commentary. While I differ in some things, you have some good stuff. I look forward to reading the other stuff as I can.

Having done as much aethyr travelling using the 19th key with the word for the aethyr in place I have come to a quandary.. I found myself burned alive so that less gross forms of spiritual energy would affect me and I would like to know that whilst this is held in great esteem, why is it that afterwards when one's ashes are placed in the wall one is considered more valuable.
I am tracking this mystery down from a dutch angle, using the original use for the dolmen as a connected sort of take.

The HGA is the TRUE initiator.. But I got into the astral and i did liber samekh, But i've done direct magic, and connecting signatures within my mind, and it lead me to the holy guardian angel anyways.. Or what I call.. Soul.
of course.. Tiphareth is where the solar Guardians of the higher self are found..
Heres what i did, and how i found mine without violating the terms and request of my HGA
I did it 2 ways, and both are validHeres the first way:
- Liber Samekh Is Important..I like Lon Milo Duquette's way of invoking HGA in the Book Magick of Thelema
- Liber Samekh MUST be done in the astral.. You dont have to imagine the tools or the magickal space nor a magical temple.. But thats between your will and your Higher self.
3.If Liber Samekh is hard for you to remember while traveling to the astral, you gotta practice till you memorize every move Just like doing the LBRP for so long you remember it.. Same thing with Liber Samekh so that you when you enter the astral you can go to a place to begin practicing it.. - when HGA/higher self is realized, ask for his sigilum, signature if he's willing to give it to you.. each HGA is different..
If it's too hard to memorize Liber Samekh.. try the second method
Open yourself up and light yourself up astrally and micro and macrocosmically by imagining breathing in light and light enters your lungs and your chest lights up full of light in the minds eye. and breath out a dim mist and imagine the room with misty energy.
that should be done for quite a while until you connect what the minds eye is telling you, you'll notice your energy signatures, most people see energies connecting with other different energies, just follow the connections till you no longer see your own signature energy connection, you'll see a different energy connection.. Whether it be a solar energy connection or what-may-have-you. but this will lead you to your higher self..
Once you connect with that system or connection, began to have knowledge and conversation.. with certain signs and portents these certain signs and portents taught in the holy thelemic books will help you to identify your guardian angel.I hope that made sense

Like Jim said, Archangels can teach you the A.'. A.'. System.. But The holy guardian angel is better at teaching you the A.'. A.'. Because once you find him you will learn all sorts of magick that is not found in oral instruction, nor in books, magick beyond all reasoning..
What you do with it is up to you.. Solomon ruled the Middle East, and the known world of his time.. Aleister Crowley became very powerful just by saying a "word". litterally a word. I truly believe youre not a real magician until you have the guidance of your HGA.

Or you can call up a Goetic spirit and command them to become one with you.. slowly changing each cell in your body and each cell in your mind to infuse their spirit and being with their spirit and being..
and you can become that spirit.. And also it will become your HGA..

Personally i think too much is placed in the hands of the HGA.
Sure you can learn great5 things form him or her and the eing is close to you that does mean that a little dissimlarity and chaos can't supply a better inspiration towards oneness than some fluffbrained lovedovey that ultimately has to be abandoned just to progress.
In the likeness of Tahuti's life i find the HGA more like the cyncephalus than to the higher self in that it is to be called upon in all judgement and exactment of law.
I guess this is just how things work for me and the gods only know which form of madness has not carved it's signature in the grey of my cerebral flesh. -
I would be (in fact, I am) quite distrustful of any reality that I become convinced will be stable, that I begin to think will never change.
The Angel has changed Its presentation, representation, mode of conception, mode of communion - and more! - in every single grade. (Which, of course, means that my projections on the Angel have changed.)
The Angel is never abandoned permanently. (Just look at the current Daily Meditation passages about the relationship of the Magister to Adonai.) There are times, though, that It steps back out of sight - times that we have to let go of the little prior ideas - even one or more times that we have to let go of the whole architecture on which we have framed anything at all (including the whole of our prior projections on the Angel - which, however, were necessary at the time).
So, like the soror just said... Bend over, grab your ankles, and invite the HGA to get on with it.
