    DISAPPOINTMENT
    (Previously called “Loss in Pleasure.”)
    Five of Cups

Meditation Pattern: Place Atu XVI, The Tower, and Atu XIII, Death, side-by-side, with the 5 of Cups above them.

Traditional Description: Lotuses or water-lilies appear, of which the flowers are drooping right and left. Only the leaves, and no buds, surmount them the cups. These lotus stems ascend between the cups in the manner of a fountain, but no water flows therefrom; neither is there water in any of the cups. Above and below are the symbols of Mars and Scorpio for the Decanate.

Geburah of Water: Severity in emotional matters (requiring emotional strength). Disappointment in love; marriage broken off; unkindness from a friend; loss of friendship; emotional disturbance; betrayal.

Mars/Scorpio: End or death of pleasure; disappointment; sorrow; loss or misfortune in those things from which pleasure is expected. Sadness, treachery, betrayal, deceit; ill-will, ruthlessness, detraction; willful destruction. Wasting or dissipation of energies; charity and kindness are ill-requited. All types of anxieties and troubles from unsuspected and unexpected sources.

Mars + Mars: (Reinforces all Mars traits.)

The only disappointment here is what the personality experiences in having any existing constructs that do not serve the agenda of the HGA completely removed.

As long as we remain aware of this, the experience of disappointment can be used to create an opportunity for the HGA to establish a new pattern/construct within the personality. This is where the Transformation comes into play.

Ofcourse, we're also free to let the personality create another construct of resistance, but that'll only perpetuate the experience of disappointment.

"Be still, and know that I am God" just came to my mind.

Speaking of, I thought it would be good to share a piece of advice I was given directly related to this: "If you want to know the will of God, just look at 'what's so' right now. Deal with what's SO."

That is the virtue of this card and this arrangement.

Last edit: see today's Meditation of the Day.

I haven't been following along, but Jim's graphic made this instantly accessible and the configuration really caught my eye and opened up the 5 of Cups, a recent nemesis of mine, like a bullet to the brain.

How are you selecting the trumps that correspond with each number card?

    @David S said

"How are you selecting the trumps that correspond with each number card?"

The simple answer is: They are the planet and sign listed on the face of the card. (In this case: Mars / Scorpio = Tower / Death.)

But this, of course, invites the question: And where do those come from?

It's just like the two cards you never want to pull just sitting right there together, being mean, creating the yuckiness of the 5 of Cups.

I've fallen ill recently, and I can be pretty moody when I'm ill. I'm not feeling very much like spiritualizing the feeling of the card or understanding it in a way that makes everything ultimately okay... just feelng it. And it sucks.

    The big "NO! Change instead."
