    Hello all,

I am kinda new to the study of Thelema, spent time reading Crowley's writings, which brought me to Israel Regardie and the Golden Dawn. Found a branch of the Golden Dawn and spent 3 years practicing and reading about the esoteric arts. After leaving the Golden Dawn I again found an interest in Crowley and Thelema.
    Have two questions

    1. Is there beginning practices and meditation like in the Neophyte Grade in the Golden Dawn?
    2. Also what would be the point and or benefit of doing the LBRP or SIRP with inverted pentagrams, or with the use of them on general.

I'd say that the same beginning practices learned in the Golden Dawn are useful and are probably identicle to what some Thelemites practice. The methods are probably similar between many paths, Thelema included, with meditation, different forms of yoga, qabalistic analysis, ceremonial practices, and just being aware that you are alive.

Perhaps you can take a look at the texts assigned to a Neophyte of the A.'.A.'. to get an idea of what was designed for a student of that system. Also, regarding the inverted Pentagram, if you do a search on this site with those keywords I remember seeing some decent discussion that may help you.

If your working by yourself then you could do a lot worse than to simply obtain the A.'.A.'. syllabus for Student, 0=0 & 1=10 Grades, which would give you a brilliant grounding.

I would also recommend anything by DuQuette for its simplicity of language and readability.

A.C's writing, although profound, can be a bit much at times, sometimes its nice to chew on something a bit less, well; chewy.
