Questions About The Tree Of Life

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
Hello all, though this is my first time writing on these boards I'm a long time lurker. I want to commend everyone on this board for their great insights into Thelema, I enjoy reading topics new and old. My question is; I've been studying the Sephiroth of the Tree of Life and I wanted to ask how one would, "move up the tree", so to speak. Is there a certain invocation of the different spheres, like the way you invoke and scry the enochian aethyrs? Or do you just meditate on the different spheres? Any advice, experiences, or discussion are welcome. Thanks again,

So you mean as a specific exercise, not as a permanent evolution up the Tree, right?
It depends on the level of the ascent. You can do it purely as an imaginary practice, and get something out of it. You can do it be a purer "astral" working. Or you can commit yourself to fully work one sephirah at a time.
There's not a single standard ritual for this, or single standard approach. You mentioned some good elements. I'd certainly recommend employment of color shifts and divine names, etc. - In order to learn a wider approach and have some ritual examples as starting points, I think you mght like one of my books:

Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Whole Of The Law
Thank you very much for your insight, Jim. I have looked at the link and I am definitely going to purchase 776 once I get some funds up. I always was amazed at the amount of information in Crowley's 777, but actually using the material was quite difficult. Half of the things I couldn't read, the other half I couldn't pronounce. I'm really excited at being able to bring more correlation of material in my rituals. Also, on the linked page the description of your book talks about Liber Pleiades; can you tell me what it's about? I don't think I've ever heard of that one. Thanks again!

From the section on Liber Pleiades:
"This ritual is original to Temple of Thelema. It has many uses, the most general of which is to prepare a space of profound silence and beauty within which to meditate or perform other work. It is more an invoking ritual than a banishing but, in fact, is neither: Experience shows that, instead, it shifts the plane of the magician and the space. If the magician has been awakened to Briah, this is an effective tool to trigger the transition; for others, it will at least have a centering, calming effect that prepares consciousness for a work of High Magick."

Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Whole Of The Law
That just makes me even more excited to get a copy of 776, I'll be getting a copy next week I think. This will really expand my knowledge of the Tree of Life as well as other correspondences in Thelema workings. Thanks again for the help!

*Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Whole Of The Law
I believe it; the way Jim described it, it sounds wonderful. Thinking about ordering 776 sooner rather than later.*
