B'riah and Atziluth

In B'riah, that energy formulates itself into a pattern or, to use JAE's word, myth.
But as I read the quote above, there's an implication that 'past' B'riah, there is just undifferentiated energy. I have always more or less assumed that the HGA is Atziluthic, and is to thus to some extent differentiated from the Universal Mind of the Ain Soph. And, as a corollary, any being has a distinct, or at least embryonically individual, source in Atziluth.
